SAN DIEGO A San Diego area congressman and Iraq war veteran is asking Defense Secretary Robert Gates to look into charges levied against three Navy SEALs in connection with the alleged abuse of a detainee in Iraq in early September, calling the charges an overreaction.

While he’s at it-maybe Congressman Hunter can look into whether the cadets at West Point photographed dozing have been punished.
Parents, alumni and cadets themselves have all reported hearing that those cadets will be severely punished.
The cadets were up before dawn, had a rigorous typical Academy day , were in the middle of studying for finals and

In contrast (I will be vague, the participants are no longer with us and it may not be true) I remember a story of German prisoners be offloaded, a German officer spitting in the face of the officer in charge of the security detail, at which time the officer pulled his pistol and shot him. Two men threw the man on a truck and drove away while the security detail continued to offload the prisoners.
Guess it was a different world in WW II.
