Here is video of Sean Hannity tonight talking to John Gibson about his new book, "How the Left Swiftboated America." The book focuses on the demonization of President George W. Bush by the Left as well as their investment in defeat in the War in Iraq. Gibson said they used this demonizing of Bush and the Iraq War to regain power, and that President Obama is the one who did the best job of it, resulting in his victory. . . (VIDEO)

I always liked John Gibson. I wonder why he’s not on Fox anymore. I’d rather see him than Shlep.

Bad title for a book. It concedes the point that “swiftboating” means something bad.

Agree 100%. It’s a damned shame that the left has been able to co-opt this term. If anything, “Swiftboating” ought to be a synonym for “telling the truth”.

A lot of misleading crap went unchallenged in the Bush years, and this was high on the list.

“How the Left Swiftboated America”
-— The title should be “ How the Left Railroaded and Bamboozled America “

You make a lot more money being syndicated on a hundred TV stations than being a 3rd string reporter on Fox. Gibson has the talent to pull of a very good 3 hour radio show, so went for it. Shep couldn't do that, he's a 'reader'. OTOH Shep is a bigger TV pull than Gibson (for some reason). He's always about #4 in the cable ratings war behind O'Reily, Beck and Greta.

It concedes the point that “swiftboating” means something bad.

On its face, it certainly appears to do that...and Gibson should be taken to task for his apparent ambivalence to the "war of words" being fought over this blatant leftist pejoritization of the term...all to better hype his book.

He could have, at a minimum, placed the term in quotation marks (as you did) to underscore the reality that the term is utilized as a pejorative, almost to exclusion, by the partisan left.

That being said, his only deference to that reality appears to be nothing more than a modest caveat on the rear jacket cover stating...

"Swiftboating, as it has come to be defined by the left, is the political trick of claiming to expose the truth while in fact lying..."
As only a small exerpt from the intro is available on Amazon, I don't know if he addresses in any more depth his use of the term in his title, but he's, no doubt, abetted the demonization of the "swiftboat" term by its employment in the title.

Gibson, you should be ashamed...as should that idiot Hannity...who said NOTHING in defense of the Swift Boat Vets.

What a pair of pseudo-conservative jackasses.

I started reading his book yesterday and it is a good read. He started the book by telling about the Swift Boat veterans and how they had told the truth about Kerry. He then went on to discuss how the left had hijacked the term and put a different meaning to it. Then they began to use lies to bring down Bush.

He does discuss about the swift boat veterans and how the left took over the term. I agree that quotes would have made his meaning clearer, but he does spend a lot of time showing how the left lied to try to bring down Bush. It really is a good read and a good resource book. I downloaded a sample on my Kindle and at the end of the sample I downloaded the whole book and continued reading.

I don’t think Hannity is a “pseudo-conservative jackass”. I think his heart is most always in the right place... it’s just his brain isn’t always up to the task of following along.

He misses some really obvious stuff sometimes and it’s really frustrating. But he does always fight the good fight, it’s just that he’s no Glenn or Rush. Nothing really he can do about that.

While Gibson should be castigated for his thoughtless and self-serving exploitation of the leftist demonization of the Swiftvets, I agree with your observation on Hannity. He is, unfortunately, mostly cover...very, very little book.

Hence an obvious issue with Gibson's book title, as it had not yet been raised elsewhere, never dawned on him or even entered his thought process.
