The author here fails to see that the Romney attacks ARE about defeating Obama in 2012.

With the GOP doing nothing to stop open primaries and same-day registration in the Presidential primaries, Obama, running unopposed, will hand-pick whomever he wishes to run against in the general election.

The maniac in Seattle took care of Huckabee. Now, we have to eliminate Romney before Obama tells his ACORN and SEIU goons to flood the GOP primaries with votes for Romney.

A Romney win in the primaries will guarantee an Obama re-election and it has nothing to do with his religion. It is his positions and past actions that make him unelectable to conservatives. Take him out NOW or get four more years of Obama.

The erroneous assumption most people make, is that the state and national Republican establishment disapproves of the "moderating" influence, of open primaries.

They want leftist Democrats skewing the process. It's just another way to blunt the conservative influence of us yahoos in flyover country.

Can't say it enough...New Hampshire democrats are looking forward to choosing the Republican presidential nominee for 2012...just like they did with McCain. They do this deliberately; and no one seems to care.

“The author here fails to see that the Romney attacks ARE about defeating Obama in 2012.”

No, they are about taking out the biggest threat to the site favorite — Palin.

I don’t dislike Palin. And I wouldn’t worry about her functioning as President because she could surround herself with experienced, smart people.

But, I do worry about her getting elected, and I don’t want to blow the opportunity to take advantage of the anti-Democrat backlash that is building.

It is absolutely true that, in order to win, you have to win over the vast mushy middle. It is not enough that your “base” thinks you walk on water.

Instead of hiding Palin’s weaknesses like it did for Obama, the media will be focusing on them like a laser. I worry that she will have a series of “deer-in-the-headlights” moments that would kill any confidence that the mushy middle might have and make it impossible for her to get elected.

She has a great deal of appeal and some real political gifts. I have not seen that she has much of a grasp of complicated issues, or is capable of any subtlety of thought, or is able to think on her feet. Her heart seems to be in the right place most of the time, but she is not consistently conservative. Sometimes she is more of a populist, such as when she bashes big business.

Maybe a better leader than Palin or Romney will come along. I’m waiting.
