He made some strange comments to me, it was obvious he never set foot for any time in the continental United States and I told him he better realize that he is making judgments about the United States when he himself never actually lived there.

Wiki says he moved to LA in 1979.

Thanks. I was trying to remember when he moved so he could pretend he was in college.

If that’s true about 1979, that still proves my point, that would mean he lived outside the US for the previous 16 years of his life, maybe 17 years

I wish I remembered more of the conversation. Not that it would do any good, without a recorder or video, it is just hearsay and a 30 year old memory.

But I do clearly remember him saying he was born in Mombassa because I was going to go back and visit him with pitures we took

Wiki’s “facts” have been questionable since they came on the scene.

Being in college somewhere is not quite the same as actually living there. You know it's not permanent, and you tend to hang with your like minded buddies. In his case, Muslim buddies at Occidental. This is especially true as a freshman, which is what he was during the '79-'80 school year.

But grandma was still in Hawaii, and his mother visited there, so he could very well have been back there in 1980, probably more than once.
