A friend of mine sent me this story of his time in the Marine Corps. Read through to the end, its a shocker.
What strikes me most is what he said as to where he grew up: Indonesia. He told me he wanted to be President of the US someday. I remember lightly smiling and commenting that maybe by the time he gets to be 40 or so, America will be ready for a Black man to be President and I wished him luck. We spoke of the racial tensions I saw at home while growing up and I asked him if he ever saw that overseas or since he returned back to Hawaii. I dont remember his answer, but we spoke more of his time overseas and his thoughts on life and philosophy of government. He made some strange comments to me, it was obvious he never set foot for any time in the continental United States and I told him he better realize that he is making judgments about the United States when he himself never actually lived there. I told him, Hawaii aint the United States!
He also told me something that I never forgot, for it caused me to do some other things in an effort to be nice to him and possibly a favor. We spoke of where I had been and the world as I saw it. I told him I had been to Africa , Mombassa specifically, and he said to me abruptly, I was born there. I told him he is not eligible to be president if that was true, but I remembered he said his mom was an American, so, maybe it was okay.

Anything to add?
I heard the grandmother talk about Obama being born in Kenya. But there was a translator and it came out it was translated wrong. Of course! I will see if I can find it. It was either Corsi or on underground net.
My, my, my...
RB- you seem a trustworthy fellow- besides - I alaways instinctively trust fellow New Englanders ;) (even though I’ve been away for years- I’m a native Cape Codder)
...the country prefers fiction to facts. I’m willing to bet this is a one term president and that AFTER he’s out of office- the truth will come out.
You are so right and thanks for trying to set these doubters straight.
Wiki’s “facts” have been questionable since they came on the scene.
I wonder if we can even last until 2012 in
the face of such a purposeful takedown of
the greatest nation on earth, from stem to
stern.
I don’t know about the rest of the story but I don’t see any conclusions that can be drawn from his uniform or hair. It appears that he is a corporal or sergeant and the uniform appears to be the same one I regularly wore during the early 70s I served with plenty of Marines who wore their hair at that length and the cut appears to be within regulations. I saw more people who looked like that in their uniforms who were assigned to an air wing unit or a logistics support unit than those assigned to a line unit but nothing out of the norm that I can see.

Thanks
RE :”Conservatives on the other hand are information gathers. They look into this, they look into that, they pick up this rock or examine that anomaly. And we let them. Because our critics and doubters are valuable to us. We don’t want to shut them down or force them into a mental straight jacket.”
Like I said before, we also dont want a conservative Dan Rather memo moment. Nor is it helpful to have signs at protests that personally attack Obama. That is just ammunition for the democrats in characterizing us all as nuts(although at this point, this dem strategy is not helping them anymore either, we got a real dem meltdown here.)
I personally dont care where Obama was born short real clear proof he knew he was violating the law or constitution. And most birth-certificaters arguments is “Prove Obama was...” . He doesnt have to prove that stuff now, he is president. Dems tried the national guard stuff on Bush, and it backfired.
Sounds very plausible to me. Thanks for sharing the info. Hopefully writing down your experience will jog other memories. Keep us posted.
RE :”Again, sickoflibs we encourage the information gatherers... If they come up with nothing, we’re still better off for their effort. What’s leaned from an experiment that fails is as important as what’s learned from one that succeeds”
This is not true with a huge number of ‘conservatives’. I have many witnesses here how tons of times freepers have shut down a valid argument with ‘Those are democrat talking points’. It’s frustrating because as most of the country develops an valid (or partially valid) opinion, and many freepers are trained by talk radio to be exactly exactly like liberals, If it conflicts with a belief, it must be tuned out. This is how so many republicans thought we would win 2006+2008.
The difference was the docs trying to prove Bush did bad stuff were forged, and the so-called doc “proving” 0bama was born on HI is forged.
You’re nothing but an 0bama suckup.
Trained by talk radio?
Where do you get your talking points, anyway?
I beg to disagree. A few months ago a liberal I know was making up some protest signs - so they would look homemade. But, in fact the words came down from "on high" and no - absolutely NO input, zip, nada, zero, none - happened at the local level.
Liberals want to look like they're all "about the people" but they aren't. Liberals hire their "protesters" - - union goons and apolitical young people who "look good" but are not allowed to give an interview at a protest. Or have a viewpoint. Or express an opinion to a reporter. They have strict "talking points" and people who deliver them..
We don't do that. Go to a tea party and you'll see. The press is looking for someone to "talk nuts" but they always get stuck with sincere American citizens talking from their heart about valid concerns. I suspect dems hire young people so the press ( a press begging to be fooled ) can babble on about how the "young" are backing dems. New York Times columnists and people like Chris Matthews fall for this every time - old former hippies stuck in the 60's - (which was half a century ago...)
So yeah, people at tea parties write some great things on their signs and they write some weird stuff on their signs, but it's THE PEOPLE expressing themselves about their concerns. It's wonderful. And it's messy. Freedom always is... Conservatives like that. Dems don't.
It's NOT messy for dems - because they're afraid of the people.
Dems do dirty tricks with signs - - ACORN had "Don't tread on me" signs made up and they were distributing them at the Washington DC tea party. The idea was to discredit the citizens protesting - try to make them look radical. It backfired. Now everyone's OK with the "Don't tread on Me" signs. Which is good.
My guess is that if you see a really offensive sign at a tea party, there's a good chance it was made by a liberal. And a liberal who's being paid to make that offensive sign . They want us to conform to the lies they've made up about us.
As we get stronger, we'll start outing those dem shills - just like we've caught them making fake calls to talk radio We know their tricks. We know they cheat.
GOPJ - Thanks. Race contacted me directly via FReepmail.
1980 was not 2001. Things change. Even Marines. When I get a haircut, I get it pretty much the same as I did in 1983, when I was a USAFR Captain. My hair was no longer, nor shorter, than the active duty guys' hair at the time, but it was and is longer than that of the Army officers I now see on a daily basis.
I do let mine get longer than I did back then, but when I first get it cut it's about the same as a new haircut then. Wasn't nearly so hard to get my Korean lady barber just outside the gate to do it the way I wanted, as it was to get the "no military within two counties" barbers to do it that way in 1983. :)
Remember this is "Zero", no history, no background except what he wants us to see. And we are to like it!
Being in college somewhere is not quite the same as actually living there. You know it's not permanent, and you tend to hang with your like minded buddies. In his case, Muslim buddies at Occidental. This is especially true as a freshman, which is what he was during the '79-'80 school year.
But grandma was still in Hawaii, and his mother visited there, so he could very well have been back there in 1980, probably more than once.
Yes he does, but so do a great percentage of "blacks" in the US.
Compared to my college acquaintance from Nigeria, even barry's "cousin" Odinga looks a bit on the mullato side.
