Isn’t that essentially what happens to people here that do not have insurance? They tend to get public health treatment after they find something wrong.

Okay, so thousands are dying. But look at the upside. Think of all the money the government saves annually; money that can be used for good causes. If you extrapolate out about a thousand years, enough money can be saved to scrap the current crummy system of government healthcare and replace it with a much better one, available for both of the surviving citizens of the UK.
