IMHO, this hypersensitivity is best left for the moonbats. It doesn’t injure me at all to hear Happy Holidays.
My local Target store (San Jose) bans Salvation Army bell ringers.
That’s a whole ‘nother ball of wax. Is this a local decision or Target corporate?
Nice to see Lowe’s hardware finally getting back into Christmas. They were one of the worst calling Christmas tress “holiday” trees in their ads.
Seems like its been a pretty good year for most stores. Sure, there are still some idiots, but I’ve not seen so many “Christmas’ mentions in a long time.
Maybe they are finally waking up!
I don’t mind Happy Holidays either...EXCEPT...Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the 24th and 25th of December...it is a Christmas Tree, Christmas Tree decorations, Christmas gifts from Santa, Christmas Cards denoting Christmas symbols, Santa is Christmas....I accept that other religions are also celebrating this time of year....but Christmas is the main reason for celebrating this time of year because IT IS A HISTORICAL CELEBRATION THAT WAS GOING ON FOR YEARS WITHOUT INCIDENCE until the entire world moved in here and political correctness became a major issue.
I’m not sure. At the very least it’s a Bay Area policy. Local Targets took a lot of heat last year but held fast to the ban. Meanwhile I have seen bell ringers locally at:
1) Safeway
2) Office Depot
3) Trader Joes
I did point out to the WalMart clerk a couple of years ago that when you ring up a whole cartload of Christmas decorations, including a Nativity set, wishing the customer a Merry Christmas is probably safe.
Nonsense, corporations give donations to the DNC,Glaad, envirowakos groups, victim’s class, etc.. one of many organizations with a goal of demolishing America, the family and freedom.
Corporations have their agenda too, and in this PC extremism atmosphere I will not give give one dime to a anti-christian company , or any corporation that marginalizes the foundations of this country.
Subaru was one of the first to openly court Gay buyers in print ads. Citgo is “owned” now by that Bullfrog faced Chavez. I’d rather walk than drive a Subaru or support Hugo, how about you?
This is one of those things where I really don’t get the offense. I’d rather hear a warm “Happy Holidays” than a perfunctory “Merry Christmas”. One isn’t censoring Christmas by saying Happy Holidays, they just aren’t embracing it. When someone tells me that *I* can’t say it myself, then we can call it censorship.
Subaru’s and Citgo aside (as they have nothing to do with this discussion), happy holidays does not hurt my ears. Quite the contrary, it’s pleasant to receive well wishes. This hypersensitivity, looking for offenses when none is meant is silly.
The source of the phrase Happy Holidays was “Holy Days”. I agree, people are being too hypersensitive.
Our local Target not only has Salvation Army bell ringers, they often let churches use their parking lots for fundraisers like car washes. Most of these decisions are local management issues.
Good to know, thanks.
My wife works there and she wishes all her customers "Merry Christmas". She has not been reprimanded, but if she were it would not stop her. She said if she is fired so what.
Some of these may be local. Our area Kroger stores allow Salvation Army Bell Ringers.
thanks again par,
Take out one big company with a massive boycott of their products/services and the others will get the message. Start with CVS!
Their advertisements for Muslim holidays, yet nothing for Christmas did it for me.
You will never guess what the number 1 drug dispensed at CVS is.
