Another Obama Gitmo Official Resigns in Obama Smoke Screen Effort
Publius Forum ^ | 11/27/09 | Warner Todd Huston

Earlier this month President Obama fired Greg Craig, his main counsel on matters concerning the Guantanamo Bay Facility. And this week Obama sheds another one of his GITMO team with the resignation of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Defense for Detainee Policy Phillip Carter.

It appears that Obama's GITMO team is being systematically eliminated. One has to ask, why? The only real answer has to be that Obama is setting up some plausible deniability by firing or forcing the resignation of officials involved with GITMO policy. Once enough of these people are gone, Obama can look wide-eyed to the public and claim that he was badly served by his GITMO advisers and, therefore, it isn't his fault.

Unfortunately for Obama the failure is not with the henchman but with the chief hench, Obama himself. Obama has allowed Attny Gen. Holder to reveal his utter ignorance by pushing for civilian trials of some GITMO detainees while at the same time arbitrarily denying such a privilege to others. Obama has also backed this plan despite that there is no precedent in American history for such trials...

His “my dog ate my homework” excuses for personal and policy failures are so transparent that it amazes me he is still getting away with it. I swear PT Barnum was thinking of 0b0z0 when he proclaimed, “There’s a sucker born every minute”

Perhaps I could have phrased it better...it is that general populace that 0b0z0 relies upon for his momentum. His supported would paint him as a statesman and even a savior but he is nothing more or less than a flim-flam man...

I disagree. I thin that Holder came up with the idea and Obummer OKayed it. But, you are right to say that the ultimate responsibility is in the Oval Office.

Has Obama ever even bothered to visit Gitmo himself? He can fire all the officials he wants over this, and blow all the smokescreens and make all the excuses he wants.

He owns this stupid decision. He'll look like a fool trying to blame someone else.

Hey, that’s a good question. I don’t know that he’s ever been there.

obama is not the one being fooled. He is advancing his agenda day in and day out. It is the general population that are the fools. Also, he [obama] knows that he fooled enough in 2008 to put him in the White House and he also knows that he can fool enough of them in 2012 to keep him in the White House. All the polls on how unpopular obama is won’t mean squat come election day 2012.

Where’s the proof that Greg Craig was fired??? I know it could be true and covered up as a firing but I’d like to know.

Obama is having trials for this noose-bait because he doesn't want to watch this go on and on without resolution in sight, not least because one bloc of supporters wanted Gitmo closed right away. Zero is screwed on this, but as always, he doesn't care.
