Raypierres letter makes a few valid points, but mixes in quite a bit of dubious speculation. He is correct that the release of these emails, files and codes was an illegal act. As such, the act itself is to be condemned. However, the act was committed, the data are publicly available and quite naturally, there is now, considerable interest in their contents. So, it is quite reasonable for reporters and bloggers to be reporting and buzzing. Naturally, you Andy reported on the incident.
In this context, Raypierre writes to tell you that he is disconcerted you did not express indignation about a number of things that, as far as I can tell, are speculation on Rays part.

every board I go to that isn’t dominated by lefties is pretty upset at this scam.
I think the majority of people exposed to this are pissed.

I will be very surprised if this was not an inside job. It is hard to say what the motivation was. It could be that someone's sense of right and wrong just couldn't take it anymore. With these jokers it seems more likely that someone was about to be thrown under the bus and decided to make a power play. Either way there is a new reality, these clowns are going to have to start sharing their data or no one outside of leftist politicians and the MSM will believe anything they have to say in the future.

Those of us who are trying to divine the truth at the bottom of this pointed stick read Lucia every day; she is a real plugger and doesn’t censor like others.
There’s a good reason to think this was an inside leak simply because one doesn’t get to be a world renown scientist by being a street thug although they may have a stray gene or two lurking in the background.
In kindergarten you are inculcated to share your toys; what may well have happened here inside this elite playground is that someone felt he didn’t get his fair turn.
If I had to choose, I’d go with one of the Kevins.

If I was looking for whodunit, I would take a close look at anyone who recently lost their funding. It is really funny how missing a payday can tickle your sense of right and wrong.
