If it’s some very shameful, humiliating, embarrassing and revealing ailment like AIDS, mental illness, drug addiction, anorexia - or any combination of the above - it will not make him a martyr, rather a laughingstock, and make the probability of his past being revealed more likely.

You know, in trying times like these, it's always good to reference the Constitution ...Here's the applicable section of the 20th Amendment:
Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Man, oh, man ... If this is the problem:  Is this really the solution?:

True.....never thought of that, but you’re right.
As for me, I’m reconciled to the fact he’ll serve out his term—I’m comforted by the fact that I think many of the idiots who drooled over him last year won’t vote for him next time-I think he’ll lose.
Then, I believe some of his hardcore base will riot in response. At that point, I can only hope for a major backlash, and the grownups back in charge—hopefully with a can of whipass close at hand so this never happens again.
