Yeah, it is pissing me off, too, the more I am thinking about it and the more I am going back to the pics for repeat views.

At least one of the Japanese in the audience has the measure of Obummer...

Ha, I missed him at first. The guy sitting below him also seems to be wearing a mask.

The Obama trip to Japan will be recalled for him committing an act of near "dogeza" (subservient prostration) in front of the Emperor.

Not unless someone on our side brings it up.

(W00t! A Japan thread with hundreds of comments)

I’ve only seen bows that low on one occasion in which I was the guest of honor at an event with several hundred doctors and where I was the only non-Japanese in attendance. With the exception of the servers during the banquet being dressed in traditional Japanese outfits, I thought it was a very western affair. Even the musical entertainment and much of the food was western. But at the end of the night when people were leaving, the #1 doctor of his medical specialty in Japan took a position near the door and every other doctor bowed to him, with the youngest doctors bowing even more deeply than what obama did in the photo. It was a shocking sight to me as I had never imagined anyone would bow that deeply. It was almost like a game to see who could outbow the other person. There was a lot of shouting of honors to the #1 doctor, which I did not understand, but it seemed very ritualized and yet spontaneous and disorganized at the same time. A Japanese doctor with me said this is not something that I was ever likely to see again at any time. I did not bow when I said goodbye and I later learned that everyone was very pleased that I did exactly the right thing by using only a handshake and words to express my appreciation and good wishes.

Thank you for all your insight into this culture.

Make’s 0’s actions all the more reprehensible,
adding more danger to the combustible pile of terror
he’s inciting with his purposeful weakness, appeasing
and deviant anti-Americanism.

Dear Lord, cover our brave military with Your
guidance and protection and neutralize the insanity
wrought by this demon.

"To the Japanese he is so apparently dishonorable."

He is to me as well. Obama has no clue.

In order to blunt the criticism for bowing to the Saudi king. Now he can claim “I bow to ALL kings and emperors.”

Also, he wants to humiliate the United States, and bowing like this is just the way to do it.

I was stationed in Okinawa prefecture of Japan and it has always been custom to give a slight bow to people you meed..I mean slight as in a sort of bow of the head but it is nothing like this! This Resident of the WH is a disgrace and he is showing the world he and by extension America is subservient to the rest of the world and this has got to stop.

Bravo! Bravissimo!

Your predictions are highly accurate IMHO.

The whole Korean and US allied contingent should be put on high alert because of this bowing incident.

Over the next week or two the shite will hit the fan. Come to think of it, that's what I read in Akihito's face.

The Orient now knows that we have a weak president, one who falsely assumes a wisdom which is astoundingly absent.

Japanese diplomats are probably scurrying around in the background wondering how they might compensate for Obama, or perhaps are asking each other whether they should even bother.

Perhaps the end result here will be that Japan realizes it must now go it alone for a while, and beef up their military. Some say that is inevitable, and perhaps to the Japanese, Obama is a signal that they now have no alternative. This Obavisit to Japan will likely give huge energy to the Conservative wing of the Japanese political scene.

That guy Rachel Maddow, along with Olbermann, Chris Matthews and all the rotten rest, will somehow try their darndest to spin this thing in Zero's favor the liberal, apologetic way this weekend or early next week. But not if I have anything to do with it and find some good local source Japanese-language big media which writes the guy up precisely as you have described him, written with even the least bit of disdain or ridicule over this ludicrous kowtow at the Imperial Palace earlier today.

Prediction: if the PR heat gets a little too hot, they will search like the dickens for some Professor of Japanese Culture back in the states, (who was a big Obama donor on top of it) to provide the obligatory "specialist's" input indicating that the bow was appropriate and nothing out of the ordinary.

"Lord help us, the presidency is way above his pay grade."

Dog catcher is way past his pay grade. Obama is a huge disaster.

The tectonic shift occured this summer with the North Korean Taepodong-2 launch right smack over Japan into the Pacific Ocean on its way to Hawaii as an ICBM test, but also as a direct national security threat to the Japanese People (and even though we have thousands of US troops here as well).

And Obama slept.

He also did nothing.

That was the wakeup call to Japanese senior diplomats that the guy is very, very weak and an empty suit at best.

This bowing incident today in Tokyo was just icing on the cake and sealed the deal in their minds today, IMHO. They now know for sure that they know.

A genuine bow. The feeling is genuine, heart felt elegance and great dignity.

There needs to be one on this thread, just to show how off Obabow indeed was.
