We must also keep in mind that Owens is hardly more liberal than Scozzafava would have been. And Owens himself must recognize that he is in an extremely precarious position. He runs a grave risk of losing this seat next cycle if he is seen as merely one more Pelosi foot soldier.

This is b-a-r-e-l-y and nearly a hollow victory for the Democrats. And they know it.
