Yes there are a lot of things that are still in place since that event.

There is a oak that is still visited each year also. Some things are not quickly forgotten. Even today.

I was thinking more in the way you included my FR name....

"Houston dispatched Erastus “Deaf” Smith to destroy the bridge, thereby preventing more arrivals or retreat by either side."

Actually I did not write the article. It came from a series that ran in the El Paso Times, many years ago.

I loved the series and kept several of the articles. There is another that I have not been able to find. Suspect I still have it, but have not found the right box it is in. That article dealt with 3 cases in history when a few changed the course of history of many for a long time. The two events that I can remember from the article were the 300 Spartans vs the Persians and the Battle of San Jacinto.

There are a lot of things that happened along with San Jacinto that are not taught in public schools, but were non the less important. Such is history. Since time immoral.

That massive monument in Houston is bigger than the Washington monument!!!

I was there in early June this year and didn't know of it till I saw it on the Houston skyline. Followed it on the horizon till I ended up inside. What a trip!!!

I will be voting about 10 minutes before the polls close in VA so I can get the total number of voters at my precinct. If the count is more than 900 (about 45% turnout) McDonnell and the rest of the GOP ticket will by huge margins.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the election returns before returning to the road on Wednesday. Keep up the good work for conservatism and America, and thank you, vamoose.

CONGRATULATIONS TO VA and NJ but especially to NJ. My birthplace. Now let’s hope Christie can undo so much of the harm corzine reaped upon the good citizens there and bring New Jersey back to where it should be.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO ALL NEW JERSIANS!!!! I’m elated as I know they are as well. Victory for libs??? Yeahhh right. Ha,ha.
