The free-for-all House race in New Yorks 23rd district has turned into a nationally watched referendum on the state and direction of the national GOP and now the heavy-hitting left is entering the race, with MoveOn warning its massive membership that the right-wing candidate must be defeated in order to weaken the Palin wing of the Republican party.
The race a three-way contest between conservative Douglas Hoffman, moderate GOPer Dede Scozzafava, and Dem Bill Owens has drawn the attention of Palin and other big name conservatives who hope a Hoffman victory will boost their influence within the GOP.
Now MoveOn is seizing on the specter of a victory for Palin and the right to raise cash for the Dem. From MoveOns new email to its list:
Warning: A bizarre House race in upstate New York could end up giving a big national boost to Sarah Palin and the far right, and endangering health care reform in the House.
Heres how: In a three-way race, Doug Hoffman, a right-wing third party candidate, has gotten Sarah Palins endorsement and become a cause célèbre for the far-right fringe. They think the Republican nominee is too liberal because shes pro-choice and supports gay marriage
If Hoffman wins, teabaggers and hate groups will have their own representative in Congress.
Palin and the tea partiers are such a potent fundraising draw on the left that you can bet national liberal money will flow into this once-obscure House race just to deny the Palin/tea party brigade a victory and a boost in influence. Getting interesting.
Are the living dead going to walk the night to vote for Bill Owens?
wouldn’t doubt it a bit. That’s why our side has to really mobilize the numbers, and GOTV effort, as well as poll watchers.

Umm, no it is not.
“Warning: A bizarre House race”
They’re the LAST people that should use the phrase “bizarre” in a sentence!
It must suck to belong to a group like moveon.org. Waking up every morning, full of hate.
So the GOP and Moveon are on the same side.
Correction-”Progressive liberal” GOPer Dede Scozzafava?
This will be interesting since it will prove Newt was right or wrong on the issue of a split vote.
Sarah Plan and the Tea Parties are an even more potent fund raising draw on the right. Remember how much money Joe Wilson raised from conservatives, when he called the Liar In Chief a liar?
Moveon.org got into that fight too, and get clobbered but good when Joe Wilson easily out-raised his Democratic opponent.
” that you can bet national liberal money will flow into this once-obscure House race just to deny the Palin/tea party brigade a victory and a boost in influence. “
Plenty of conservative money has already flowed into that election, despite 0bozo himself holding a fund raiser for the Democrat Owens in New York. And Hoffman has taken the the lead in the polls, albeit from polls from conservative outfits.
using their logic, a win would mean a loss for 0bama.
sounds good for me
The Palin “wing” of the Republican Party? Her wing consists mostly of independent conservatives.
Hey Move.Om how is that race in Va. working out for you. Democrats seem to be in full retreat in Va. and have written Deeds off.
Indeed they are.
“Warning: A bizarre House race in upstate New York could end up giving a big national boost to Sarah Palin and the far right, and endangering health care reform in the House.”
Code for: Load up the buses with ACORNs and get to work, fast!!
I always love it how the old guard media always describe far-left ideologues as “moderate” Republicans.
Dear Move On people:
The only way this would be a loss for the conservatives is if Hoffman comes in third.
You should work hard to make that a reality. Make sure all of your NEA, AFSCME and homosexual friends vote for Dede. That will be the only way to show that upstart Hoffman.
Guadalcanal comes to mind. Small and then both sides poured in resources into what became the deciding battle.
Yep, that's the one and only reason that Sarah is helping Hoffman: if he wins it will boost her influence within the GOP. She's doesn't really care about advancing conservatism. It's all about Sarah Palin and her sick little personal power trip. Right?
JUST -- GO -- AWAY.
