Because he’s backing the republican candidate whomever it is. ONce that person is on the ticket, he is backing them.

His opposition should be to not get them on the ticket in the first place.

Every district is different. I don’t know. Maybe the 23rd district is more liberal.

Let’s hope Hoffman wins or puts on a strong showing. I don’t think the republican has a snow ball’s chance.

What can he do? He has to defend party candidates. What if she wins without the Republican backing? She bolts to the democrats.

He should be pushing to field conservative republicans for office.

She has already considered "bolting" to the dems, she checked out the possibility before being "selected" by the Republican committee(notice there was no real primary?)to be the party nominee. BTW, Hoffman IS a conservative republican who is running as an independent because a**hats like Newt voted for scuzzi to be republican candidate.

Also, Newt could show some guts and tell the party that conservative principles outweigh party loyalty. Palin, Bachman and others have no problem doing it.

On Newt’s website, people are letting him know that they are disappointed.

Pray for Hoffman and send him $$. ;-)

“That idiot who took Rush’s place yesterday says that Hoffman is ten points down with NO CHANCE. NADA of winning.”

That fool was apparently basing his opinion on an October 15 poll by Daily Kos that preceded the heavy run of endorsements for Hoffman. However, he didn't even give his listeners the courtesy of the date of the poll or what there might be in the way of later polls, which seem to be running strongly in Hoffman's direcdtion. See:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2371900/posts

This was inexcusable since “Real Clear Politics” reported the first of the two pro-Hoffman polls at 12:30 p.m. EDT yesterday, see:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/politics_nation/2009/10/ny-23_hoffman_leads_new_poll.html

Rush should never again have that dingelberry on, especially because the creep was trying to nudge conservatives into supporting Scozzafava.

Anyone here who hasn't contributed to Hoffman ought to, RIGHT NOW!!

Why weight until the person is on the ticket. ONce on the ticket he supports her. He should have fought to keep her off and put Hoffman on.

What if she wins without the Republican backing? She bolts to the democrats.

How is that different from the scenario where she wins WITH Republican backing and STILL bolts to the democrats? She is actually further left than the democrat candidate.

Agreed!

I can't stand Gingrich.

Ever since he went on MSDNC and attacked Rush Limbaugh as "irrational" because Rush wants Obama's hostile and dangerous policies to fail.

Gingrich is one of the larger reasons why I refuse to give any money to the RNC.

Let her bolt. Once someone is on the ticket I think it’s hard for Newt and Steele not to support them. I mean why put them on the ticket in the first place?

I’m afraid Newt has gone over to the dark side. He has lost the ability to disassociate Washington, DC and the federal government from America. He sees everything in the context of GOP vs DEM not in terms of what principles are ultimately best for those who see Washington, DC as a problem, not a solution.
