Rubio: GOP Needs To Stand Up To Obama, Not Cooperate
TPM DC ^ | October 22, 2009, 6:35PM | Eric Kleefeld

Former Florida state House Speaker Marco Rubio, the conservative insurgent candidate in the Republican primary for Senate, appeared on the Fox Business Channel to draw contrast between himself and the moderate Gov. Charlie Crist -- and gave a very broad, telling statement about the direction of the Republican Party.

Rubio attacked Crist for supporting President Obama's stimulus bill, supporting cap-and-trade, and for raising taxes and fees in Florida. "I don't believe that's the direction our party should head, and more importantly, I think now more than ever we need to send people to Washington, D.C., that will stand up to the agenda of Barack Obama and of the leaders of the Congress, not cooperate with them on these things -- and more importantly, that will offer a clear alternative."

In the current battles between the party establishment and the grassroots right -- such as Rubio vs. Crist in Florida, and Scozzafava vs. Hoffman in NY-23 -- this has become the big issue, of the GOP base wanting to see Republicans who will fight Obama at all fronts, and not cooperate.

Rubio represents the future of the GOP, if it is ever to amount to anything again.

Newt and Scozzafava are the wrong way to go.

After the Hoffman race, Rubio will be my next project. But the New York 23rd district race has my focus at the moment.

The Most Important Number in Politics Today

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.

There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year. Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I support Doug Hoffman for Congress (PayPal).

Please, spread the word about this important election on November 3, 2009 in New York’s 23rd congressional district.

Bravo! Finally, a member of the GOP with a brain. Too bad there’s only about three of them...

The moderates who want to go along to get along aren’t being realistic. The democrats seek extermination of all opposition and cannot be reasoned with.

Funny, the TPM, and avowed left wing outfit, actually reports the news better than the MSM.

The biggest victories conservatism has enjoyed - Reagan, Thatcher, ‘94 Midterms - came when conservatives put forth a clear, bold, non-apologetic platform. News flash for those worried that Dems out-number GOPers, they also out-numbered the GOP in 80, 84, 94.

I’ve been with Marco the moment Charlie announced. I researched him and went to meet him in person. He is the real deal with the folksiness of Sarah and the ability to give a speech without the prompter that is better than Zero with.

Thanks for your support after the 23rd race. Marco is gaining fast as Charlie has resorted to running ads already proclaiming his fiscal conservatism. The good news is those ads are not working.

Rubio is running against Charlene Crist who hugs Obama.

Crist is also a LIAR who says there was no ACORN problem in FL and that the state had no dealings with ACORN.

Crist also helped reinstate the voting rights of felons in FL.
