The proper request would have been "please pray for ......"

Semantics. "Pray to Francis X Seelos" is no different than "ask the intercession of Francis X Seelos."

"Pray to" in this context is "direct your requests to"

I love how Catholics corrupt simple things like words.

“Pray” now only means “directing requests.” Yesterday, we were told that Mary was a “Co-Redemptrix,” which literally means, to anyone, “equal feminine Redeemer,” but Catholics there say that it really means Mary was “a non-Redeemer.”

I guess that’s okay because Protestants call their warts “Popes.”

Hope there’s no confusion on the English there.
