Then I can either pull this thread or let it go inactive, whichever mickeyleroy prefers.

I don't doubt for a minute you would pull this thread.

Just to spare someone's thin-skinned feelings? I've copied these remarks for later use in the event you decide that freedom of religion is not applicable here.

They pray to dead people.

They're not dead.

God says they are — but that's just God. Not the RCC.

Well, actually, that’s one verse from Scripture, not God agreeing with you.

Your own personal interpretation of that verse agrees with you, but it’s all rather circular.

Nonetheless, they’re not dead.

Perhaps.

But my point is made.

Please close this thread. The new one is open in the Religion Forum, and I wouldn’t want to cause any more trouble to the OP.

prayer requests are off limits to arguments.

But instructions are always helpful, and correct for setting one straight.

< shrug >

For a Christian, Scripture is enough. God, Christ, man, Gospel - the whole picture. Scripture is sufficient.

For a Roman Catholic, it isn’t.

That’s the whole thing, right there.

I just wish RCCs would be as up-front about it as their vaunted adoration of their sect indicates they should be.

I note your effort to distinguish Catholics from Christians.

You don’t get to have that kind of power. Catholics are Christians, whether you like it or not.

I know nothing of this RCC sect. Who are they?

BS.
Your self-righteousness has clouded your thinking.

Revelation 5:8 says NOTHING about praying to “saints” or even that saints are “in Heaven.” It specifically says the prayers from the saints (all of those in Christ, not some loony Catholic-certified crud) are in those bowls.

That reference does NOTHING to help your case. Where does it say there are heavenly saints to even converse with, let alone “pray to?”

I know nothing of this RCC sect. Who are they?

Apparently, they're a cult that inculcates such blind, slavish devotion that its adherents are forced to play stupid or run to any foolish evasion, rather than engage in honest, substantive dialogue.

Christians generally have better things to do than play the lalala-I'm-not-listening game.

This one, for instance, does.

Thank God you're not describing the Catholic Church.

I love how Catholics corrupt simple things like words.

“Pray” now only means “directing requests.” Yesterday, we were told that Mary was a “Co-Redemptrix,” which literally means, to anyone, “equal feminine Redeemer,” but Catholics there say that it really means Mary was “a non-Redeemer.”

I guess that’s okay because Protestants call their warts “Popes.”

Hope there’s no confusion on the English there.

It specifically says the prayers from the saints...

Yes, Revelation 5:8 does say that.

...(all of those in Christ...

Nope. Revelation 5:8 does not say that. YOU say that.

...some loony Catholic-certified crud...

And they shall know you by your fruits.

If by "corrupt" you mean "look at the actual definition of the word in its context," I take that as a compliment. Thanks.

Yesterday, we were told that Mary was a “Co-Redemptrix,” which literally means, to anyone, “equal feminine Redeemer,”...

To anyone who doesn't understand what it means it might literally mean that. To which I respond, so what?
