The Choice For Mayor of Houston Is Clearly Conservative
TheCypressTimes.com ^ | 10/21/2009 | John G. Winder

If you watched the debates or look at the candidate’s websites, you will never see the dreaded “D” word spoken nor spelled out. You know why, and so do these wily candidates. The “D” word conjures up images of Pelosi, Reid and billions of dollars flying out of your collective pockets and into the hands of millionaire bankers and insurance executives.

Some will tell you that no one mentions the “D” word because the Houston Mayoral Race is a non-partisan race. Really? You sure you want to go with that one?

According to the letter of the law, the race is non-partisan. However, if a candidate belongs to a party and is in politics, then “non-partisan” is sort of like the Easter Bunny and The Tooth Fairy. It’s all fun to play along with until around the age of 9 or 10.

We have seen little to no “bi-partisanship” exhibited in this country for our greater good at any level of politics. So why would anyone be so foolish as to think that “non-partisanship” would actually be practiced by any candidate once they are in office?

It won’t happen.

You must consider the party to which they have chosen to belong. You must consider the ideology with which these candidates have chosen to align themselves. This fact alone will tell you far more about what Brown, Parker and Locke believe than will the questionable words spewing forth from their mouths during an election year.

The fourth largest city in the United States will elect a new Mayor in November. The field is crowded with covert Democrats trying to convince the voters that they are conservatives...yet there is only one real conservative in the race. He deserves your vote.

So are the Katrina going to vote in this election? You know how that vote will go. They no doubt will also be allowed to vote in any NO and LA elections as well as a consolation prize.

Likely, but Houston already has a large ACORN office and a couple sections of town that have no problem voting often. Remember the Obama office there that had not one but two “Che” Cuban flags hung on the wall?

Houston will be a good bell weather to see how well this country can hold back the ACORN thugs during an election.

I heard a commercial for Gene Locke yesterday. He is actually being endorsed by former Harris County judge Robert Eckels, who is a Republican. I have also seen and heard lots of commercials for Peter Brown and Annise Parker. I have only seen a couple of signs around for Roy Morales and have never seen or heard any commercials for him. I will vote for him, but I am pretty sure that either Peter Brown or Annise Parker will win.

I live in Houston. Does anybody know what party the candidates for City Council, etc. belong to? Endorsements?

I am clueless since I don’t follow local politics.

BTW, I DID volunteer to be an Election Judge. I will be joined by two fellow Freepers who I hope to recruit as future Election Judges.

This is an excellent way to do your civic duty and put a stop to vote fraud. Last night at Election Judge training class, the DA’s office sent a rep to tell us that if we discovered vote fraud they will PROSECUTE THE PERPS.

That’s one of the points of this article. In Houston politics everything is supposed to be “non-partisan” which the writer of the article says is simply not possible. The reality is that MOST of the City Council people and most past Mayors have all been Democrats.

When a Republican DOES make a showing in the race, then the national DNC funnels money and staff in the Rat campaign and the media (Houston Comical and the networks) tell us it is a "partisan battle".

There aren't as many Katrisians in Houston as there used to be. The freebies started drying up sometime last year and a lot of them went to plunder and pillage some other city or went back to NOLA.

They're saying this election is hard to call. Supposedly Brown (ugh!) has a slight lead, but nobody's even substantiating that.

When the freebies dried up, they left.

Good lesson here.

Annise Parker is openly gay, and the gay community is working hard for her.
