From this morning’s gaggle in White House press secretary Robert Gibbs’ office:
Tapper: It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –

Gibbs: Jake, we render, we render an opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness that, the fairness of that coverage.
Tapper: But that’s a pretty sweeping declaration that they are “not a news organization.” How are they any different from, say –
Gibbs: ABC -
Tapper: ABC. MSNBC. Univision. I mean how are they any different?
Gibbs: You and I should watch sometime around 9 o’clock tonight. Or 5 o’clock this afternoon.
Tapper: I’m not talking about their opinion programming or issues you have with certain reports. I’m talking about saying thousands of individuals who work for a media organization, do not work for a “news organization” -- why is that appropriate for the White House to say?
Gibbs: That’s our opinion.
Perhaps, just maybe, you understand, some of the other “reporters” are waking up and smelling the manure.

Umm, Fatboy, you are the spokesman for the head of the Executive Branch of Government. It’s more than an “opinion”, you dumbass.
You just have to love Jake Tapper and his courage. He is way out on a limb working for ABC and all.
Who made the rule that each successive White House spokesman has to be less mature and intelligent than their predecessor?
Maybe someone should tell him that the actual news portion of FOX's broadcast is at neither 5 nor 9PM?
I think that’s what he meant....those would be the Hannity and Beck slots.
Tapper is an exception. He even worked for salon, and that is one of the most biased, left wing ezines, making his balance all the more unusual.
They should do a comparison of Beck/Matthews and Hannity/Maddow and then force Gibbs to stand there and say that the MSNBC opinion programming is somehow more "news" than FOX is...

Dear Jackie,
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the WH has zero respect for 90% of you lap-dogs that make up the WH press corp. They believe they own all of you and are warning you that you need to stay on the plantation. If you try to drift, you will be flogged as they are trying to flog Fox.
I blame the complicit media for allowing this side show of a White House to exist, driven by your biased manipulation of the news cycle over the last 2 1/2 years.
Don’t think for a second that shaming the msm is going to make them any more agressive with this WH, not going to happen, they will simply ignore the contrary voices. There is no way they’re going to derail this WH.
they better wake up because if they don’t object to what is happening..then it will be okay when the democrats get the boot and it is a Republican White House.
If these organizations had any true reporters..they would recognize what an outrage this is..and I think Tapper is a real reporter...even though he has a slant.
Good it seems like perhaps a few reporters are beginning to open their eyes and notice that they are going after their fellow travelers. If they do this to Fox then who is next?
