The Congressional Budget Office numbers are in, and America's politicians and self-defined experts in the media will be either extolling its accuracies or deriding its fantasies, to validate their own positions on the Baucus health plan. But beyond the CBO numbers themselves, many of which the CBO admits are either impossible to predict or likely to be proven untrue, Americans need to look more closely at the plan itself. Despite the repeated refrain by President Obama that "no one will lose their current insurance" and that benefits will not be cut, the fact is that the Baucus plan does precisely that, and more.

This is going to work like th tobacco tax. The 40% excise tax will cause people to opt for lesser coverage, then the revenue from the tax will fall, and the whole program will run into deficit.

The stimulus, cap and trade, health care reform... are they all *designed* to fail, to do so much damage to this nation that anyone “who can make the trains run on time” will be allowed to lead? If so, note that BHO hasn’t made anything happen on time, within budget, or right side up. He seems to be great at destroying, and very poor at building.

My Dem rep. sent me an automatic email saying that abortion won’t be covered in the bill, so I sent him this quick note:

“The only way to stop tax dollars for paying for abortion is to have an amendment stating that no tax dollars will be used for abortion. Why won’t they do that? They even voted down an amendment for a conscience clause so that prolife healthcare workers aren’t forced to perform abortions or quit their profession. That’s why Catholic bishops and other prolifers don’t trust the proponents of the bill.”

They think we’re stupid.
