Monday again, argh...

I drive a car now that straight out of Detroit turns 10:9 in the quarter at 131MPH. Even faster with drag radials. Scary fast, more car than I'll ever be driver, ain't that right, Braveman? :o) Best yet if ya don't put the spurs to it? 27-30 MPG highway, to boot. Better than a Camry, for chrissakes!! LOL

So what kind of ride is it Brother? I'm thinking a Viper or something in that category?

While the technology's made quantum leaps over the years, mk? The *thrill* remains the same. ;^)

Absolutely. I remember that the major limiting factor so far as elapsed times (talking quarter mile NHRA racing now) was tire technology, you could slap a pair of M&H Racemasters on your car, sprinkle some Oxydol in the staging area and smoke 'em up a bit (the detergent would make everything a little 'stickier' for traction) and you could end up shaving 2 or more seconds off of your time with standard street tires. But on the street you couldn't run slicks (legally anyway lol) and you couldn't very well uncork the headers unless you really wanted to attract some attention. (I saw a few variations on the ol' lake pipes arrangement with block off plates but that was a lot o' work unless you were a real dedicated street racer.

This thread has really improved over the subject title, eh?

"Monday again, argh..."

Has an entirely different meaning to the retiree crowd. LOL
The car dear bride bought me has Nitrogen in the tires, and since the car has OnStar they sent me a notice informing me the tires have 27PSI, need more N and for that must visit the stealership. Called 'em, talked to the service adviser & told 'em I will NOT leave the car, want it done when I come in and will wait or there'll be hell. "Randy" knows me. Knows I can be somewhat temperamental so he calmly says, Bring'er in anytime Dan, we'll fix ya up & have you out in no time, a'tall." The result of proper training LOL!!

No Viper I know of can attain Camry-like mileage even it it's on a trailer, mk! LOL
An LS-7 my friend, most remarkable.

And that Oxydol traction resulted in uber heated rubber, *sticky* as all get out. Don't they use bleach today at the NHRA events? Haven't followed the venue in ages since the cars started looking not so funny.

"...and you could end up shaving 2 or more seconds off of your time with standard street tires."

Yes and today there're some awfully spiffy computers doing that for ya in the big HP performance cars.
For example on the ZCar there's "Traction Control" and "Active Handling", can toggle 'em [both] off go into "Competition Mode" either bringing home the checkers or destroying the car while literally breaking both your neck & finances.
Ain't that right, Braveman? LOL

Slicks --per se-- have always been illegal in WI. Where (~approx) do you live, mk? Loud pipes of whatever iteration here were guaranteed to earn one a ticket for being a nuisance. Of course a 5,000W stereo blasting the most vulgar sounds imaginable OTOH was tolerated for the longest time, but I digress.

LOL!!!!!
It happens.

Tried explaining to my ol pal his concern was unfounded after he sent me a PRIVATE email finishing my story. Tried explaining he owed it to either reply or opt to ignore.
He chose neither.

Well I picked him over 45 years ago as my pal for life, and He's the gifted one of his family, too. LOL
