Are these houris women who “go to heaven” when they die? or they something that Allah provides out of his stock? What does await women who die as pure Moslems when they enter heaven? do they even get to go to heaven? Have women any reason to be Moslem at all other than in certain societies it lets them survive a little while on earth?

Houris were directly created for the shahid. Women who were righteous in this world get to become some righteous non-shahid's play doll AND they lose any jealousy they may have had of other women. Don't forget the Quran does not ascribe the same worth to women as it does to men.
