Since FR has a section for blogs/personal, I’m not sure they can really expect people to not post in it with uh....blog posts. I think I’m noticing more anal retentive possessiveness these days than blog pimping. Yeah, it looks dumb to post two sentences and make people go to your blog instead of posting an interesting thread (in this case maybe they didn’t want to repost all the pictures). But, when they get very little traffic or comments to their post, they’ll figure out that they need to give people something to read and comment on...not just click on.
I will not submit to blog pimping. No hits from me.
BTW, Michelle does have a high waist. But she also does not wear clothes that flatter her. She has an odd shape and needs a stylist. She is not beyond hope.

You’re exactly right chevydude. It’s embarrassing. Too many people around here act like the first lady is supposed to be a trophy wife once her husband takes office. The slightest change in her weight can produce a 500 post thread about what a “ghetto bumb” and “slob” she is. Granted Mrs. Bush had better fashion sense and a lot more class, but her weight fluctuated just like anyone’s would in a high stress life. If we’d seen the DUmmies ranting about Laura’s lard a$$ and thunder thighs, or calling her a fat hick, we’d have been sickened by it. I’m really surprised this goes on so much here and Jim is okay with it. Maybe it’s just that no one wants to rock the boat. Whatever it is, it looks reaaaallly bad.
Ya know, several times lately I’ve noticed people asking the question, does Glenn Beck check out free republic for information? Or, they’ll suggest that he should come here because of all the research us freepers do. But, do you really think someone as decent and respectable as Glenn Beck would come to this site for information if he’s going to find 500 threads a day calling Michelle Obama a fat slob? And then, of course, there are the threads that turn into a giant porn fest with as much cleavage as people can post because the right name was mentioned in the discussion.
I’m just saying. FR would have far greater impact and perhaps become a resource for people like Beck, etc. if it cleaned up it’s act a little. It didn’t used to be so trashy. Maybe it was, and the majority likes it that way. Just my 2 cents.

I thought that was the case. So why has the site gotten so trashy lately...name calling threads about Michelle’s weight, threads that are mostly pictures of scantily clad women, etc. Are they just too busy to monitor that kind of thing, or has your statement above changed with time?
Sometimes, it’s as though FR has become something like the restaurant in town that nobody goes to anymore because it’s too crowded. I’ve been zotted at least three times since 2004. However, I’m doing so much better now...Or is it that the default level of scrutiny has diminished enough to where I’m oblivious to the fact that I’m not really as good a FReeper as I think I am?

I disagree. As distasteful as this type of discussion may be to our more tender sensibilities, Alinsky RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” Pointing out Michelle’s slothful appearance and crude mannerisms is wrong on many levels, but it helps illustrate the wastefulness and arrogance that permeates the Obama administration from top to bottom. This tactic has been used extremely effectively against conservatives. These people are destroying our country! Maybe the time has come to take the gloves off and use some of the left’s own tactics against them.
You can talk about Obama taking no meaningful action to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons and no one cares. Then you can bring up something stupid like Michelle’s appearance being downright embarrassing and everyone in the world wants to get in on the discussion, even the mainstream media. So which discussion do you think does more to diminish Obama’s power to lead our country down a path to disaster? The people who will listen to a serious discussion on something important have mostly already made up their minds. Unfortunately, a discussion on Michelle’s bad appearance has a better chance of swaying those who have been sitting on the sidelines. It is stupid, but that is the unfortunately the situation we find ourselves in during these troubling times.
