It’s kind of amazing though that there hasn’t been some huge push to create a different standard or something. I think in a lot of fire departments there is. Maybe not, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Probably there are women who could do the push-ups but couldn’t do a lot of the other stuff.

A lot of men can’t handle the training.

Lower the standards for anyone and you risk lives and national security.

Most military men, otherwise rightly considered as highly competent, also do not meet minimum qualifications to be eligible to even apply for SEAL training, IIRC.
There is no implied shame to the vast majority of males in noting that particular fact. It's just a fact.
Given my imperfect understanding of potential SEAL missions...
I sincerely hope the standards are never lowered.

I am all for it without any gender norms. Compete on the same footing, LOL none would make it with out gender norming....Women do not belong it Seals or on submarines, for that matter, there is lots of things women can do in the military, if they can do it on equal footing with men, more power to um....This crap about not carrying the same weight as men is not competing on equal footing etc.

Same goes for police and fire....I sure wouldn't want some 110 pound female try to carry me out of a burning building and I am ??? pound female (exact weight not necessary, but its more than 110 pounds...

Some people are just stuck on stupid... I have watched some of these cop shows where the female cop gets pushed and swung around like a rag doll by some 200 pound felon.....I am not politically correct. just honest....

That can't be stressed enough. The difference between the upper body strength between males and females isn't just a small, insignificant one. It's dramatic.

Women are dramatically weaker than men.

I've been watching females take the Army Physical Fitness test for nearly 20 years. Every one of them absolutely struggle with pushups. Most females can barely do 3 pushups, after that they start to really get sloppy.
