Google "marriage license" and you'll come up with some certificates listing "bride" and "groom" (e.g. State of Wyoming License and Certificate of Marriage) and some not.

The current Hawaii Marriage license application form uses the words "Bride" and "Groom". It even indicates that the Groom is the male and the Bride the female. How quaint. :)
