So many of the intelligentsia dismiss Sarah because she might not be able to pass a pop quiz on the current president of Shitholastan or some other such trivia. The difference between her and some other foreign policy expert wonk who works at the State Department is that she is morally grounded and they, typically, are not. Moral grounding gives you the expertise to pick good advisers and make good decisions, something which is consistently lacking among all the intelligentsia.
