In 2008, a suspicious National Intelligence Estimate was leaked to the news media, apparently to influence the 2008 presidential elections. An NIE is the consensus view on the threats to this nation, at times on a specific topic like Iran or Iraq or al Qaeda.
IN 2007 the NIE was a crass act of misinformation.

And so are rogue CIA analysts who influenced the 2008 elections.
Someone should do a political cartoon showing a Congressional "green room" filled with all the despicable people that should be "hauled" in front of Congress.
The author is correct - the 3 “analysts” who published the 2007 NIE were at best, complete fools who were incorrect in their analysis, or at worst, knowingly issued false statements to influence the 2008 election and damage Bush.
This MUST be investigated. Perhaps in late 2010 when some sanity returns to Congress.
Would be good to have their names and addresses. Odds are good that they live in the Washington DC area, most likely Northern Fairfax, North Arlington or Montgomery County in Valerie Plame’s neighborhood (maybe some of the pukes next door who vouched for her “being very quiet; didn’t even know who she worked for”.
