I suspect our boys would be pretty hard pressed to shoot down Israeli planes. I’d think there would be an inordinate amount of weapons malfunctions that day. I’m sure we would be leaking orders like a sieve to the Israeli air force.

Actually, communists were popular among all minorities in Russia. The most over represented were Latvians.

What kind of person talks that way? A one-world-government "realist". They are "true believers" in their global Utopia, with themselves, naturally, in charge. They are willing to kill millions to achieve this, without batting an eye (they believe there are to many people to begin with, so it doesn't bother them to "eliminate the useless eaters", for which read anyone who might not agree with their vision...)

Brez was Carter’s Sec. of State. His foreign policy went along with his boss’s dislike for this country. I don’t think Brez was or is necessarily a commie. However, commies always find ways to make useful idiots out of people like Brez and Carter.
The thought had occured to me. As I recall Carter, for whom Brez was Sec. of State, was not particularly friendly toward Israel. The deal Carter struck with Begin and Sadat largely favored Egypt and has been the template for subsequent so-called peace initiatives. To wit: Give up land for some kind of half baked security agreement with the Arab, Irani and Egyption states. Oh yes, in all these agreements Israels opponents were to formally recognize Israel as legitimate country.
The PLO, or whatever name it now calls itself, has never publicly accepted the State of Israel. And it’s charter still calls for the destruction of same. Iran speaks for itself. Egypt, however, has been a relatively good neighbor to Israel. But the Palestinians manage to make a lot of mischief from Israel’s border with Egypt.
