Bill O'Reilly Downplays Washington DC March While Talking to Mike Gallagher - Video 9/17/09

Here is video of Bill O'Reilly talking with Tammy Bruce and Mike Gallagher.

Bill O'Reilly talking about FOX News and Conservative talk radio being the only ones driving the debate lately said that "the power now has shifted to us, and talk radio" and that he is worried "there may be overkill on the way, because once you get a taste of power it's almost like a drug you need more and more."

When Mike Gallagher talked about the March on Washington D.C. he said "you had over a million people on the lawn at Washington D.C. Saturday," O'Reilly then had to "correct" Mike by downplaying it and saying that there was 75,000. (Video)

I haven’t watched O’Reilly in years. Thanks for reminding me why!

I am really tired of O’Reilly being this great independent judge who stands in the middle, telling us what we should think about situations like this...

I saw this..despite my vow not to watch this jerk....I did it again... I just have to have my time to yell at him to Shut Up, I guess. ;)
That said, he is unwilling to admit that there were more than 75K ‘FOLKS” there. People could not get onto the Mall there were so many present.
In the mailbag I hope “the folks” take him to task but bet he won't show it,

Oh and later in the show did you catch him trying to piggyback on Beck with the Acron thing?

Wonder if all those people at the march would fit into the 65050 seating of Heinz Field/Steelers Stadium, hmmmmmmmmm, I think it would take at least 2 Heinz Fields to hold all of them and then there would still be overflow.

Yep, it was all Fox and talk radio. Never mind bloggers, sites like FR, and the people themselves. Is O’Reilly including himself in the big pat on the back at Fox? I don’t watch his program, but most every time I see a clip on FR, he’s discounting and/or dismissing conservatives, their beliefs, and their numbers.

I was listening to Medved the other night. He’s usually pretty factual with his information. I believe he used the number 1.8 million.

Yep, he talks about power and influence of Fox getting the better of the people there. I think power went to his head. Seems like he got a little cocky. (No puns intended with either of those last two sentences.)

BOR has a real problem with anyone who succeeds in the talk radio line because he lost BIG TIME going head to head against Rush.

BOR= Waste of time.

75,000 is absolutely ridiculous for a figure. I was there and I have seen professional park estimates and comparisons for other events. There was no less than 250k at this event and I would take that to anyone with that as fact. I would say it was around half a million on the high side peak of the rally.

Problem was...not enough big names were speaking...where were the big performers? Were were the Sean Hannity’s? The Ann Coulter’s? The Malkin’s? Where in the hell were they all? Michael Savage?

I think the wiser course if for the most famous conservatives to keep a low profile. The last thing we need is to create a cult of personality around one of our people that will be compared to the Obamanutz cult.

Coulter went to a tea party in CT a day or 2 before. I especially credit Glenn Beck for being secure enough to avoid making 9/12 all about him. His not being in DC was a very good call.

We don’t need our own version of The One. We’re the indpendent thinkers.

O’Reilly and Fox became players because of the training and brilliance of Roger Ailes. Ailes was able to capitalize on the frustrations of sentinent citizens who knew they were being ignored by NBC, CBS, ABC and dinosaur print media. The self celebration by media figures has brought them to the end of their influence, without which they can't survive.

The presence of celebrities (conservative or otherwise) was unnecessary. The march on Washington DC on 9/12 was of the people, by the people and for the people. Politicians (and news anchors) are put on notice we are unified (and growing substantially in numbers daily) and we are watching them very very closely (no figurehead required).

Listen to BOR again when he talks about “the power” going to people’s heads in conservative talk radio. Almost like he’s telegraphing a warning to his audience about Beck or something. I think he’s worried.
