Obama may have been a race baiter at one point. He may have won dem primary because of race. But the last thing he wants and needs now is a race war or race debate.

And yet there seems to be a racial animus seething in the WH, sometimes below the surface, but in the Gates affair, apparently he let it out. Maybe the Jeremiah Wright influence has faded, but he still has some really despicable people around him. Maybe he can keep it under control now. We'll see.

I am thinking that he is not a completely stupid man (as many here seem to think) and now as president his requirements for success are completely different than other positions he has had. If he was in House BCC race baiting would be a winner.
That he knows he would have lost the election if he depended on the Jesse Jackson voters vote. He needs to keep those moderates/independents, or at least some. His big personal flaw is he believes in his ability to convince voters just by speaking , as it seemed early this year,

If Obama was as bad as some of the extreme viewpoints here, he wouldn't had been this successful getting things passed, but with the help of Carter and Pelosi and some on MSNBC (and ACORN) his legacy has turned into a death spiral. this couldnt be more fun to watch.

The other thing is he has gone from Messiah to death spiral in only 3-4 months, with health reform being the big trigger but all this other crap coming up too. He is learning the honeymoon is over(thanks to FNC and others) . He cant afford a Carter/MSNBC race war, it will scare the moderate democrats off.
