Baird was in the Army if I’m not mistaken. So it’s sort of an Army-Navy game if this fellow gets in.

I have to root for the Marine. My family has a fairly long Navy history.

I live just north of Vancouver. The city core is heavily democrat, But the outlying areas are conservative. The Republicans haven’t really put up a candidate who could raise the money to beat Baird.

That district elected Linda Smith as a write in candidate back in 1994.

I would call it a swing district.

Baird is in the third congressional district, along with Hedrick. It is a mix, but leaning Democrat the last few years.

Can he win? He better have more going for him than two confrontations at town halls.

W narrowly carried the 3rd CD in 2000 and 2004 but McCain lost by a larger margin, 46% to 52%. Con. Baird won in 2008 with 64% and in 2006 with 63%. It will be tough but the previous republicans could have been weak candidates.

We could use a principled Marine. He needs our support if he chooses to try.

The GOP has put up weak candidates that couldn't draw the support of Independents. The last one alienated many Republicans with this pro-Ron Paul stance and refused to endorse or support McCain.

Nothing againt Hedrick, but there is a very strong candidate out of Olympia who has experience, presents a strong presence and who is one of the more likeable candidates I have met.

David Castillo

From Clark County, there is also Jon Russell running, but I think Castillo has the age and experience to defeat Baird.

We also have the possibility of someone else jumping in before next year and with the outrage over Baird's comments and town hall performance, I feel he is defintely vulnerable.

Whoever ends up with the nomination, we need to support them a much as we can and campaign hard for them.
