9.02pm Ends bang on 9pm with very resounding finish. Presents health care reform as a moral imperative and test of America’s character. His argument for liberalism and the goodness of government. This is what speech will be remembered for rather than the specifics. “We did not come to fear the future. We came here to shape it. I still believe we can act even when it’s hard. I still believe we can replace acrimony with civility, and gridlock with progress. I still believe we can do great things, and that here and now we will meet history’s test. Because that is who we are. That is our calling. That is our character.”
8.59pm From Twitter via @DVNJr: “Rep. Joe Smith, a South Carolina Republican, shouted “It’s a lie!” at the President, according to CNN, USA Today and Politico.” _____________________________________________________________________________ 8.58pm The very long segment of the speech - almost an interlude - on Ted Kennedy is great debating school stuff and will go down very well in the chamber and in Washington. Will it persuade any Right-of-centre Americans? I doubt it.
8.54pm I guess the attempt to use Ted Kennedy’s death to try to get health-care reform passed was inevitable. “That is why we cannot fail. Because there are too many Americans counting on us to succeed – the ones who suffer silently, and the ones who shared their stories with us at town hall meetings, in emails, and in letters.”I received one of those letters a few days ago. It was from our beloved friend and colleague, Ted Kennedy. He had written it back in May, shortly after he was told that his illness was terminal. Dems have been in power since 2006 and they have FAILED to deliver any health care reform. Any medicare, medicaid, mortgage......you name it....they have failed to deliver.
How about Kennedy.....where was his worldly compassion as he let the girl he was screwing on the side drown inside the interior of his own car.....what a pile of S H I _
the public option is only a means to that end......WTF?
Why did the Republicans even show up to this circus?

I would just love to see some of our Congress people including Obama perp walked to jail.
