EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, AND UNCLE BART!
The Edisto Joe Outlook ^ | 09/08/2009 | Edisto Joe

President Obama once again is taking to the airwaves to pitch himself, his political party and his policies to the American public. Desperate to revive his signature domestic policy, health care, and stop his downward skid in opinion polls, the “Master Of Disaster” will be gazing into the teleprompter for words of inspiration to address a joint session of Congress along with the American people on his latest revised outline for health care reform. According to press secretary Robert Gibbs, in the new version “Lines in the sand will be drawn.”

For the President this could be a tough sell, given the opposition and negative poll numbers of late. Perhaps it would explain him using an easier audience for a tune up. I am referring of course to the address being delivered to our nations school children on Tuesday. Though I must say, that could be a tougher sell than Congress. The President should be alright, as long as he doesn't plan to have a test after he's done or pass out homework. After reading excerpts from press releases on his text, I have to wonder if the message is more about “face” time rather than a plea to the nation's students to make the best of their education.

"The circumstances of your life -- what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you've got going on at home -- that's no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude," says the president. Not exactly “Ask not what your country can do for you” inspirational talk and I would imagine down right boring to a high schooler. He also suggests joining a school club, doing volunteer work and standing up to bullies. That last suggestion...standing up to bullies? Well when you decide to take that step the President wants you to know that he's right their with you, in spirit that is. He too will feel your pain and suffering as the bullies pummel you on the bus trip home.

In many ways it's too bad that he scrapped the write a letter explaining how you could help the President idea. Just imagine the varied correspondence from that...”Dear Mr. President I want to help you so I am telling you now don't go anywhere near my Uncle Bart.....”

Anyway, back to “lines in the sand.” It really tweaks my interest wondering what in the world Gibbs was referring to by that statement. Unlike his slip, calling the “War On Terror”the “War On Terror”, this quite possibly is an early warning to Republicans of the “ground zero nuclear option” being floated around in Congress. Today in the White House strategy room Obama, Biden , Pelosi, and Reid are in conference, going over their plan of action. The President will be leading the charge with his speech Wednesday. Nancy will have her ever ready finger on the nuclear button, Reid will do whatever they tell him to do and Biden...well he's along for the ride just in case they need coffee and doughnuts or a tie breaking vote. It's quite obvious they've lost the high ground in this fight so it's time to resort to terrorist tactics with their colleagues. Force them to tow the party line or else! Unfortunately for them they're fighting a larger enemy...re-election 2010. Not all the Democrats have an electorate like Ted Kennedy enjoyed.

All in all we should be in for some very ugly politics in the coming months. You always know when the liberals are losing ground. Words like RACIST, UN-AMERICAN, and NAZI start to filter into media reports. Most likely they will show up right after the President finishes his speech Wednesday. Once they get that point across they can begin the business of crafting legislation that the American public doesn't want. Pay no attention to the polling data, the marches, or the protests. We have the “nuclear option” at our disposal and a House Speaker whose wacky enough to use it. If that happens...well, she better not go anywhere near Uncle Bart!
