Mid-term elections are generally not very pleasant for the president's party, especially when the president and congress are all lead by the same party.... The 2010 elections will be no different, the only real question is whether the losses will be small or large. The tea party and town hall protest movements show there is great anger and frustration amongst voters toward a congress that is out of touch with their constituents.
Then there is the fastest growing voter block in the American electorate, Seniors:
Bush's 2005 Social Security debaclealienated seniors and contributed to Republican congressional defeats in the 2006 midterm elections. Republicans now hope to turn the tables and hope the health care apprehensions of seniors will last long enough to help the party regain seats in Congress next year.
"We have not seen seniors move in our direction in these numbers in the last four years," said Wes Anderson, a Republican consultant working with the Republican National Committee.
Internal RNC polling done by Anderson's firm, OnMessage Inc., echoes independent polling that shows that voters over the age of 65 have become increasingly dubious about Obama's plans and are growing disaffected with the Democratic Party. A Pew Research Center poll in November 2006 showed voters 65 or older supported Democrats over Republicans 50-29. A new Pew poll shows older voters now prefer Republicans by a 51-43 margin.
Seniors tend to be a block who turns out to vote more than younger Americans which means a lot more in off-term elections when there isn't the same excitement in Presidential years.
Democrat's see all of this happening and the constant falling polls of the President and though there is plenty of time until the 2010 election the democrats are already counting their losses for the 2010 election:

Good post, thank you.
I’m going to be cautious about this. The ‘RATS are going to have 20 to 30 million new Amnestista voters in 2010.
Again, this presupposes that the GOP recruits candidates who don’t deliberately piss off the people who want to not vote for the Democratic candidate.
The GOP has been very adept in recruiting candidates who piss off conservatives and advocates of limited government. Consider, for example, the GOP support or Arlen Specter, who is now not even a Republican. Wonderful strategery, supporting Specter, eh?
well, if they do turn out then this nation is toast
lets roll
What Republicans and all of us need to communicate and to push it hard is that ObamaCare will not just harm seniors but Baby Boomers are right behind seniors.
The “woodstock generation” (God the bands that played there sucked except The Who) will be asked to pick the red or blue pill soon.
Baby boomers will quickly be in the seniors shoes and will be attending the (former ACORN/SEIU/Black Panthers/Nation of Islam/TSA/Homeland Security) govt employee goons death chat.
“Yo! When is yous old folks thinkin bout checkin out?”
Also we CANNOT get complacent and count our chickens for the 2010 election. We need to keep fighting, get in their face, say NO, call, fax and visit your representatives offices. Get in their faces.
Maybe not. We keep fighting them on ObamaCare and then we fight them on any amnesty. Keep fighting.
Not holding my breath, but wouldn’t it be cool if people are finally PO’ed enough that they actually start throwing the bums out?
At what point do the RAT Congress critters break with ZERO to stay in power? How low does ZERO go before this happens?
Only if we throw out the bums of BOTH PARTIES. And then....if we do have a majority, initiate term limits that the cowardly Republicans would not do in '94.
Just think.....if they had done that 15 years ago we wouldn't be dealing with 80% of the professional political scumbags we are dealing with now!
An apt summation.
Unfortunately, the FIX is in, and has been for decades.
GOP get elected, turn RINO, and ignore their base knowing the country will then elect RATS. GOP rational is “If you thought We were bad, try the Democrats,”
The Citizens fall for it again and again, and the Big Govt machine just keeps on rolling.
If memory serves, the Dems have a house majority of 78. Hence, the loyal opposition must focus on winning 39 seats. With that, our national Obamination is ended ....
This is going to be a long year!
Not a good trend for RATS.
Let's not let it become ours, too.
And it seems just like yesterday.
I one year's time from today, we will be fully into the Fall Midterm General Election Season. This year is going to come quickly!! We are almost there.
I thought the RAT Congress critters were so low that nothing could slide under them, even Obama. I guess I’ll have to reevaluate.
