Senator Inhofe blasts Obama at Town Hall: "He has disavowed America"

GROVE — Right-thinking Americans can only hope the country will survive the next 16 months of the Obama administration until Republicans can regain control of Congress, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Wednesday.

“I never dreamed I would see an administration try to disavow all the things that have made this country different from all others,” Inhofe told more than 300 people at a town hall meeting in the Grove Community Center.

“I have never seen so many things happening at one time so disheartening to America.” Inhofe found a highly receptive audience. Many wore T-shirts of a local organization called Get America Back. Its Web site promises “a plan to eliminate the socialist government and return Americas (sic) freedoms.”

The “plan” is a link to a YouTube video by Lloyd Marcus, a Florida artist and singer making the circuit of anti-Obama “Tea Party” rallies.

Wednesday’s audience was similar to those at town hall meetings throughout northeastern Oklahoma in recent weeks. Concerns centered on the administration and Democratic-controlled Congress.

Inhofe gave his constituents plenty to worry about.

I’m curious, so which of America’s dreams have been lost?

I’m curious, so which of America’s dreams have been lost?

Now I'm curious -- where did the posting say dreams were lost?

On the other hand, freedoms we once held secure now seem to be somewhat more tenuous, subject to loss at the whim of the federal government for our own 'good'.

When people lose their property to imminent domain not for a public project such as a road, but so the government force the property's sale to a private developer who will pay more tax revenue -- how is our freedom secure?

When the rule of law is scoffed at by what Clemens called a 'uniquely American criminal class', and no tale of scandal or corruption attached to congress shocks us anymore, and no violation is met with comeuppance -- how is our freedom secure?

When powerful government agencies have leaders who are not publicly vetted, have broad powers defined on a whim and aare not restrained by oversight by anyone beyond the person appointing them, and a complacent and compliant media -- how is our freedom secure?

When the federal government openly invites neighbors to inform on people who would be opposed to its policies -- how is our freedom secure?

When a 'community organizing' group has been proven to have been involved with fraud for the benefit of the ruling party, and in return is gifted with taxpayer moneys and included in conducting the national census, with potentially deep and far-reaching consequences for elected representatives -- how is our freedom secure?

When the economic futures of our children, and our children's children, and their children have been burdened with debt, much of which has little to do with the public good, but is much more closely tied to gaining election support for an incumbent representative -- how is our freedom secure?

When the government openly chooses winners and losers in the marketplace, and backs its choices with taxpayer moneys and the power of legislation, even as it feigns reluctance to become involved in private business -- how is our freedom secure?

When the government has neither the spine nor the political will to accomplish such a basic responsibility of government as securing our nation's borders -- how is our freedom secure?

When success is met with penalty, and indolence is rewarded with money taken from those who work and services paid for with the honest labor of responsible citizens -- how is our freedom secure?

When basic freedoms embraced as crucial by the founders of this country hang by a tenuous thread, and are openly targeted by 'progressive' legislators who have disdain for statistical fact but embrace hubris and tragedy to further their agenda -- how is our freedom secure?

When significant members of the judicial branch openly view their allegiance as being to their sense of racial and economic justice, rather than to the Constitution and the laws derived legitimately therefrom -- how is our freedom secure?

When the citizenry of this nation have become so enamored of government handouts that the path to elected office depends not on character or vision, but on the representative's largesse with money which is not theirs -- how is our freedom secure?

When political discourse is based not on reason and respect, but instead on ridicule and low brow sound bites -- how is our freedom secure?

When the polity see their responsibility as being passive spectators to be entertained by the political process, rather than to be informed participants in that process -- how is our freedom secure?

Which of America's dreams have been lost? America doesn't have dreams. Its people have dreams. And it's not only a quesiton of which dreams have been 'lost'. It's also a question of which ones will never come true, because the burden of taxation has eliminated opportunities, or because the whims and elections of legislators in unrelated districts have stymied prospects and prosperity, or because a freedom has been traded for an expediency, or because the federal government views the nation as a bauble to be toyed with, rather than to be cherished, protected, and nurtured.

"He has disavowed America"

"As always, Comrade Obama, if you are captured or killed, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union's Central Committee will disavow all knowledge of your mission to infiltrate America and take over as president."

You're quite welcome. The word "disavowed" is not used terribly often any more, but back in the days when even democrats loved America, they made pretty good TV shows.

People used to think they would die of natural causes without the process being sped up by a government medical board. It wasn't exactly a "dream" but....
It was kind of nice when people in administrations were at least not openly discussing putting anti-fertility and sterilization drugs in the water to speed that up. Maybe that would be something that both Republicans and Democrats could think about reversing in 2010 and 2012.

Then we used to have this quaint notion that it wasn't a real good idea to have actual card-carrying Communists on the staff at the White House. That would be another one they might look into. A little less Communism and this population control stuff with wacko advisers in the White House would be more like the America people used to dream about. So the complaints are about both substance and style in the way they have gone about trying to redesign the country in the image of radical Alinskyite Leftist wackos from crackpot Ivy League colleges, hell-bent on population control and a totalitarian centralized economy. There have been crackpots, liars, and charlatans in the White House before, but perhaps not flaunting it quite so openly and demanding worship. When the guy demands that you worship him and then stiffs you with the bill, while his henchmen talk about how stupid Americans are, calling them a-holes, he's pushing it a little for some Americans. And they may have pushed it a little too far for some people this summer, as sinking polls indicate.

Not sure it would be an unreasonable "dream" to want that out of there.

You apparently are in no position to be issuing lectures, using "dude" as you do.

Um...yes...Obama's science czar Holdren, the resident crackpot in chief at the White House, has advocated doping the water supply for population control. Absolute, 100%, documented fact. Obama is a puppet of power cabals, funded by cranks like George Soros, who have global population control as their number-one priority. Using U.S. tax dollars to fund this worldwide was Obama's first act in office, actually signing an executive order to use your tax dollars for this. "So, hey, dude, you're funding this NOW, buddy!!!" Along with all of the morons who voted him in.
