Scientist Predict 10-20 Years of Global COOLING
New Scientist/The Lid ^ | 9/4/09 | The Lid

OOP, Better Buy a new winter coat. At the UN's World Climate Change Conference in Geneva one of the worlds top climate change scientists, predicted that we are facing 10-20 years of global cooling. The Scientist, named Mojib Latif said the cooling would be the result of changes to ocean currents and temperatures in the North Atlantic, a feature known as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). Latif also said that the NAO may be partly the cause of warming during the past 30 years.

Latif says that he is not a global warming skeptic, and says that after the cooling, the world will start warming again:

And after the world warms up..there will be a cooling period. OK,gotcha.

Remember campers....

Global cooling = Global warming.

Global warming = Global cooling.

War = peace.

Freedom = slavery.

He didn't add that the cooling will stop unless something else happens like maybe no more sunspots for a really long time, the Earth tilts slightly into a position where more light is reflected from Antarctica in summer, volcanos blow up, a space cloud moves into position around the solar system, or...... a gazillion things.

At that point we will tip over into the intense glaciation that's ordinarily present at this point in the normal glacial cycle that's prevailed on Earth for the last 2 million years.

The next ice age is still on the way. Sea levels will drop and shipping to an from current ports is going to be a BIG problem.

GLOBAL COOLING!!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! We're all doomed! We need Algore and his band of enviroloonies to stop this!

Whoops! I got carried away. That bunch is still out there chasing their tales about "global warming". (Incorrect spelling intentional).

"However, we have to ask the nasty questions ourselves or other people will do it."

So scientific inquiry is now considered a nasty question.

This world is getting dumber by the second.

The paper is based on cherry picked temperature proxies, not real temperature data.

This could get interesting.

Take cooling from the NAO and add this:

Are Sunspots Disappearing?

And it could get very very chilly.

this in particular caught my eye:

If sunspots do go away, it wouldn’t be the first time. In the 17th century, the sun plunged into a 70-year period of spotlessness known as the Maunder Minimum that still baffles scientists. The sunspot drought began in 1645 and lasted until 1715; during that time, some of the best astronomers in history (e.g., Cassini) monitored the sun and failed to count more than a few dozen sunspots per year, compared to the usual thousands.

*Note that of course, they don’t mention that this coincided with the coldest part of the Little Ice Age. But that would be politically incorrect, wouldn’t it?

All part of my concept of Global Moderation (tm) where the earth warms and cools over decades, in order to make liberals appear even more stupid than your average dipstick.

says that after the cooling, the world will start warming again:

Boy! There's a brilliant prediction! Where would we be without these scientists?

George Carlin, the Hippy Dippy Weatherman, was better and far more accurate at forecasting the weather, than the scientists of today.

They are completely wrong, Al, the snake oil salesman, Gore say that the world is melting and we are all going to die unless we donate money to him and beg for his advise on how to save ourselves.

If we all do without driving cars, cooking, burning oil and coal there will be plenty of room for him to build additional 10 rooms on his house, buy more SUV’S get another boat and burn even more fuel to heat and coll his castle.

The guy doesn’t miss the obvious. The world goes through warming periods and cooling periods, trending one way or the other. Of course, this couldn’t possibly have anything to do with sun spots.

And after the world warms up..there will be a cooling period. OK,gotcha.

And EITHER WAY it's America's fault and we're all going to die if we don't give them more money.

How do they say this crap with a straight face?
