I responded to two of these posts yesterday. I don’t know their source. In sum, I said that (1) nobody dies because they can’t afford healthcare (2) some people do go broker because they can’t afford it, but usually that’s because they CHOOSE to not buy health insurance (3) if you are in poverty, you are ALREADY covered by Medicaid (4) the real issue is NON-CATASTROPHIC care — why should others be expected to pay for the routine care of your OWN BODY ???

I responded by donating to the charity care fund at a local hospital. Interestingly NO ONE that posted this mamby-pamby feel good message followed my lead. Frankly, if helping the poor were such a priority, people would find a way to help them.

I followed up with a liberal friend about this and it devolved to “What if’s” After some probing, the situation she used was created by poor, selfish, and/or emotional decision making.

Does anyone have Ronald Reagan’s proposal for catastrophic care insurance?

BTW why can’t we have tax exempt health savings accounts for routine care?
