Ted was a leading establishment figure. It’s not surprising that he would spout the establishment line (at least in public). What did he really think? What did he really know?

And why wouldn’t he?
No one benefitted more than old Teddy boy.
The tragic deaths of his brothers helped shield HIM from criticixm in many instances...

I agree. Also, his abortion stance. He did not list that along w/his ‘accomplishments’ (i.e. education, healthcare) in his letter to the Pope because he knew it is/was wrong.

Mentally, his last few months must have been hell and his last ditch effort before meeting his Maker, he reaches out to the Pope for solace.
