Nevada Not Happy With the Washington DC Harry Reid
WSJ/The Lid ^ | 9/4/00 | The Lid

In Washington DC Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is one of the nation's most powerful Democrats. In Nevada Harry Reid is in danger of being out of a job. The Nevada lawmaker, who will be seeking a fifth term in office November 2010, is trailing Republican challenger Danny Tarkanian, son of the legendary Jerry Tarkanian, former basketball coach at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, by 11 percent points, according to a poll taken in mid-August by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. Reid also would lose by five points to Sue Lowden, the Nevada Republican Party chairwoman and a former state senator, the poll shows.

Why is Reid in trouble? Perhaps the reason is there are actually two Harry Reids, the Nevada Reid, that understands the needs of his home state, and then there is the Washington Harry Reid whose position as party leader, gives him so much visibility. And what the Nevada voters see is a party leader that puts the priorities of his party in front of the needs of his home state.

My sister is involved with Clark County politics, as a Democrat with some influence. She has told me that Harry is toast and that either Tarkanian or Lowden will win the seat.

Probably Lowden. Tarkanian is trading off the family name, although his mother Lois is an active Republican.

I can’t wait to rub this in my uncle’s face, who lives in Reno, when I visit him next year. He’s tried to tell me there were Republicans supporting Reid in 2010. Pfft, fat chance.

Reid and his family make their living by lobbying. The males of the family (sons-in-law mostly) are all lawyers and lobbyists. They lobby the state of NV and the Fed on behalf of Indian tribes.

Guess who pushes bills in the Senate to ok those lobbying efforts? Thus delivering the dinero to the tribes via the lobbyists who get a hefty percentage.

I don’t live in their state, but I donated money to his opponent and sent Reid an email to let him know it! These people need our support if we are going to ‘change’ what’s happening in Washington!

How fitting it’s happening over labor day as we ‘labor’ to save America’s youth from this..and to save our Country! Semper Fi.

Thanks, I think there are..

On the D.C. rally, I’m not going just for myself and my family. We still have our jobs, I will ‘stand in’ for those millions who don’t have gas money to get there, but wish they could, who probably don’t even have cable news to watch it..

You wouldn’t believe how much dirt there is on Harry.

I am not a Republican (more moderate) but I lurk here often. Here's a nice graphic I made just for Harry Reid; I put it on my own blog. You're more than welcome to use it.
