A friend just called and read me the letter she was sending to her kid’s school’s principal. It was marvelous, asking if the kids could opt out, and if that wasn’t allowed, asking if parents would be allowed in to watch the President’s speech to the students. Then she addressed if students would be able to openly disagree, in the discussion, with things the President has said.

Evidently last year, her kid’s (high school age) had an assignment of writing a letter to Obama, but they could not include anything that might appear as a negative comment. So she confronted the principal with that. It’ll be interesting to hear how he responds.

She said she’d keep them home, if necessary, but in HS, that’s a lot of different subjects to miss.

“...asking if the kids could opt out, and if that wasn’t allowed, asking if parents would be allowed in to watch the President’s speech to the students.”

ASKING?? Just take your kids to play golf that day. Ask HELL! Provide any principal who objects with two familiar words. It’s long past time that actual Americans stop being nice, pleasant and submissive.
