Clout: Scandal at the Pittsburgh VA

Dr. Anna Chacko is currently the head of radiology at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital. Dr. Chacko manages the radiology department as a tyrant, an incompetent, and she has created a culture of fear throughout the department. That's not me saying this. In fact, according to my sources, that's the testimony of six of the fourteen radiologists in the department that she runs this past March as part of an investigative board that was convened to determine if she should be removed. At this board, members of the radiology department testified that Dr. Chacko routinely spreads lies about members of radiology she doesn't like, threatens legal resident aliens working at the VA that she'll report them to immigration if they cross her, and she even forbid members of radiology from speaking to each other while working (except for during patient care that is). Furthermore, they testified that Dr. Chacko routinely did minimal clinical work. She was even described by some as "incompetent" as a radiologist. She forced the department to buy a new GE radiology machine even though the current one was working. It was testified that Dr. Chacko created an environment in which the department was divided and at war with itself.

Did you read the story? GE is tangential. How about the clout? How about the head of the VA protecting an incompetent doctor? How about the powerful Congressperson? Did you notice those? This is the sort of story that forces people to resign. Get your mind off of GE and worry about Shinseki and Miller. They are the ones that have a lot to answer for.

$300,000 in taxpayer money is paying this woman’s salary.

Read that again. $300,000 in taxpayer money is paying this woman’s salary.

She’s incompetent, dangerous and when charged with such lawyers up and calls Congresscritters and the General in charge of the VA gets involved as well.

Now, put all of that aside for a moment. That’s one person in one department at one hospital. What would happen if the same thing happened hundreds if not thousands of times over due to government interference in the health market at large?

I brought this up to my father last week. Remember the motivation for Marko Ramius stealing the Red October? The doctor that could have easily saved his wife’s life was drunk and derelict while on call. Since the doctor was the son of a high ranking party official no punishment was meted out due to his connections. Ramius sees this as a flawed and corrupt system he aims to bring down. Hence, he intends to hand the finest boomer in the world (In the book anyways.) to the West.

Think about that plot. What would people in this nation do to a government that collectively ceased to have the interests of the individual as the central component of its existence.

maybe, however, this story is about corruption not socialized medicine. Everyone should be outraged and demand answers from Shinseki as well as Miller. This is the sort of corrupt politics that are the hallmark of Chicago politics.

Absolutely. People need to get the word out. Shinseki and Miller also have plenty to answer for.

But nothing will happen. Shinseki and Miller will go on throwing their weight around, protecting wrong.

See, it’s exactly that sort of cynical attitude that gets nothing done. Pass this article along. Tell friends to pass it along. If you are in the North Carolina or Pittsburgh area contact your media. There’s plenty everyone can do to get the word out.
