A recent blog entry on ConservativeHQ.com details how conservatives can use the lessons and strategies learned from Tea Party and town hall protests to dump unprincipled RINOs in the 2010 primaries, especially when these Republicans are being challenged by proven conservatives.
"In these races, the moderate/liberal Republicans typically have the upper hand because they are either incumbents or have previously served in office. The U.S. Senate primary contest in Florida between conservative Marco Rubio and moderate/liberal Charlie Crist is a great example. Crist has the backing of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and has the added advantage of being Florida's governor. Rubio, meanwhile, has the backing of the conservative Club for Growth and a bastion of grassroots enthusiasm."
The blog entry says that "conservative activists should hit these unprincipled politicians where it hurts, and that is by dogging them along the campaign trail," and emphasizes that "the 2010 primaries are key" for dumping RINOs.

Great idea - let’s dump everyone who is not ideologically pure (created in our own image). That way we can see if it is possible to do the impossible - lose the 2010 mid-term elections. Maybe several repeats of dumping Norm Coleman. I forgot, who did we get in his place?
Though, with BO in office, that might change as more people become unemployed...

TOO MANY LAWYERS!!
I fear that many of our problems today stem from the fact that far too many of our legislators are LAWYERS. Further, I believe that we need more DOCTORS – and engineers in those positions – and NO LAYWERS!!
Lawyers as legislators pose a very, very serious problem for an ostensibly free people: They LOVE making laws and the more complex and incomprehensible the better. Think about it: In the private sector – to which many of them return (hopefully in HUGE NUMBERS IN 2010!!) – they, and their buds who remain behind in the private sector, earn their often obscene incomes (in addition to the obscenely generous, COLA congressional pensions and tax subsidized HEALTH CARE!) wading through that Byzantine labyrinth of rules and regulations they, themselves, constructed. It’s a process that prompted Otto von Bismarck to remark that “Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made.” Can I get an “AMEN?”
While there ARE exceptions (Bill Frist toward the end of his term, Phil Gingrey — who strays from time to time) my rule that physicians make better legislators than most lawyers generally holds true. I attribute that to the fact that most doctors – and engineers — are trained in the SCIENTIFIC METHOD and rely more on FACTS and EMPIRICAL DATA for their decisions. Ron Paul, Larry McDonald, Paul Broun, John Linder, Tom Price are (or were) all doctors. I’m sure you can think of other examples/exceptions.
Unfortunately, far too many of these guys are ATTORNEYS.
Our late friend and author, composer, conductor, Nashville music producer, lover of Bach, pianist and all-around Renaissance man, Tupper Saussy, who somehow dodged the family tradition of becoming one, traced the term “attorney” back to the Sanscrit word “torwa.” And what does “torwa” mean? TO TWIST!
While SOME of these attorney-legislators are conservatives, their law school moot court training forced them to argue BOTH SIDES OF THE SAME CASE. I rather suspect that experience allows them to rationalize voting against the Constitution when expediency and/or their political survival/favor with their party leadership dictates. It is textbook moral relativism and we all pay for their perfidy.
Let me tie that attorney-legislator problem into the current health care debate: I might have missed it but I don’t believe there was one mention of TORT REFORM from the lawyers who cobbled together that 1,000+ page monstrosity now dividing the nation.
I’ll give you three guesses as to why — and the last two don’t count!
And here’s something to think about for the primary elections to the 2010 general election: If the attorney-legislator representing your district does not pass muster at www.gradegov.com, if you can, find a NON-LAWYER for whom to vote after grilling him on the first principles near and dear to those who cherish freedom and the Constitution.

Whatever happens in 2010, the key result has to be an ineffectual number of RINO’s in the Republican Party representing whomever it is they think they represent, and there has to be results that don’t favor the Socialist/Democrats.
The objective is to take back control of our country, and turn around the results of decades of Leftist expansion of our Federal Government.
All ideas towards those goals should be welcomed for consideration.

Yes,exactly. It would seem that we're still knee-deep into magical thinking here with this 'strategy' too. The only realistic strategy to dumping "RINO" politicians is a long, hard & tedious grass roots strategy by conservatives individually to convince other individual voters out there not to vote for non-conservatives and why.
One of these days we're all going to have to grow up around here & recognize the inescapable fact that there's one reason & one reason ONLY why "RINOs" (& I put the word in quotes because the deifinition changes from user to user) are in office & that is because there are VOTERS in districts out there in greater numbers than we who put their "RINOs" in office to best represent their majority 'RINO' district's wishes.
We here on FR can't just twitch our noses Bewitched-style & arrogantly demand everybody else start instantly pulling the lever for the candidates we'd prefer. What, are we gonna put guns to their heads? We have to convince them - the RINO pols' bosses & our fellow voters & not the people they send to Washington to represent them, & preferably by not alienating them with our unilateral demands before they even get the chance to hear our better message.
We conservatives spend way too much time fruitlessly blaming the RINO messenger (the Rino officeholder) instead of the RINO message senders in the voting booth.
I know everybody wants a remote control magic bullet for this, and I understand the frustration - but it takes time & elbow-grease to explain the conservative message person to person, and to change heart by heart by persuading mind by mind. It requires our direct participation & there are no magic bullet stratgeies for it .
Me a RINO? I guess that depends who I’m being compared to. If I’m a RINO compared to you, would you rather I voted for dems?
Defeat McCain, and the Maine sisters in their primaries! That would send a reverberating message.
I like to win elections and be in the majority, so when, among other things, there happens to be a Supreme Court vacancy, we get John Roberts, not Sotomeyor.
The country is right of center, not right of right.

You don’t win by hoping your opponent is weak.
You win by being better than your opponent.
You don’t try to knife RINO’s out of the picture.
You run really strong, confident, wise, honest, non-whack jobs against them.
Unsolicited mail at my abode is shredded and placed in their SAE and returned to them at their expense.
It is theorized that they picked up said malady either from a toilet seat, or else possibly John McCain. ;)
