Here is video of Stuart Varney last night telling Sean Hannity that the Democrats' talk of a "Cooperative" approach to Health Care instead of a "Public Option" is really just a "back-door to Government Care."

Rumors indicate Obama is willing to drop a "Public Option" to get a bill passed, but the next line of attack may be to refashion the bill using a "Co-Op" approach, which will actually just be another way to move the nation to Government-run Health Care. . . . . . (Watch Video)

of course.

that’s why it’s important to make this point before Zero starts selling next week as a “compromise.”

Best to be educated/against it from the start.

The Co-Op option was used during the New Deal. I believe the last one left was Group Health in the Washington DC area. It was finally absorbed by Kaiser-Permanente.

They had difficulty paying bills (lack of professional cash management team) and their doctors worked directly for the co-op ~ which was OK but the doctors kept going on strike. It's much better for the co-op to write a contract with a doctor-owned firm to provide medical support. Doctors work much better when they have to deal with their own kind as partners.

I have this feeling that the Obamistas really aren't as smart as the New Dealers when it comes to medical co-ops.

Nonsense. Group Health in Washington State is a well run institution.

Good. You keep it. I want the gub’mint to stay the hell out of my personal life. I’m co-opted enough as it is.

I do believe they changed their corporate structure and simply retained the name. Group Health here went under and in passing was absorbed by Kaiser (which is a multifaceted operation that defies imagination).
