A true patriot. We need more of this kind of activism on our side.
I’ve never been to a Whole Foods because I always associated it with green lefties. Anyone who supports free market capitalism gets my dollar. I’ll be headed there on Saturday.
Austin libs are choking on their Whole Foods groceries and hypocrisy at the same time. It’s fun and entertaining to watch them whine.
I too always have associated it with green hippy vegans but their olive bar is awesome and its one of the few places you can buy marrow bones which my furry friends love. The fish soups are good. The produce is ok but overpriced. But we have a wonderful chain here in KCMO called Hen House which has the best of pretty much every thing. There is a flax seed cereal that I like to keep on hand. So yesterday I did go and was planning on telling the tattooed and pierced check out girl with dreds that it was my response to the boycott but was/am coming down with the flu and didn’t have the energy.
My granddaughter’s other grandma works at Whole Foods and is one of the most left wing wackos I know. So its fun. hehe.
I went there myself last weekend, for the first time as a shopper (instead of tagging along with someone else). I bought more than I should have, but it was for a good cause. ;^) I also was fortunate enough to find mizithra cheese. Now is my chance to duplicate the Spaghetti Factory’s spaghetti dish with mizithra cheese and browned butter!
“I also was fortunate enough to find mizithra cheese.”
They are a gluten=free wonderland. They have tags sticking out from the shelves that identify G/F free foods!
I like eating lunch there. They have really good tasting healthy food and it is normally under 7 bucks.
Our group is going there Thursday.
We went yesterday because I understood the boycott was on Sept 1st and I wanted to buy thre, even thoughi normallygo to another store (in NYC there are lots of choices). THe place was packed — checkout was like being on the subway at rush hour. An employee told me that the boycott had been the week before — a bunch of people in Union Square screaming, had no effect. He told me he was on their side, and I said I was there becuase I endorsed the owner’s position wholeheartedly.
And yes, it’s mostly lefty etc — but instead of looking down on it for that reason, we need to ask why conservatives don’t have businesses where you can get a huge variety of great fresh food.
I shopped at WF yesterday thinking this was a nationwide event. Hopefully that will be coming. I got my practice session in anyhow!
I’m conservative and have shopped WF for years. Yeah, they have some interesting people shopping and working there, but I love it anyhow. The one down the street from me has a smokehouse bar, an Asian bar, pizza bar, gelato bar, breakfast bar, salad bar, a few soup bars, and a wine bar. Oh, and the fish section is great with the smoked fish. The cheese section is outstanding. I can get all kinds of health-related items there that you don’t see anywhere else. Sprouts maybe, but the WF experience beats theirs.
