President Obama will deliver a webcast speech to the nation's students on September 8, the first day back at school for many kids. The Secretary of Education describes the event:
The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

I wish Obama would do his job. Protect us and stay out of our lives!
There won’t be any “good jobs” when Obama gets done.
Hhmmmm, my parents taught all of that to me.
“What do we associate with the words responsibility, persistence, and goals?”
certainly not Obama
John Hinderaker is too blase about this. The Pre-K through 6 suggested activities includes the following:
“Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.”
This is political indoctrination and promotion of a Communist-style cult of personality.
I’m hopeful that parents will send their young ones to school with instructions to be polite but not to listen to what the president says. That should be taught in the home or by a Priest, Minister or Rabbi gathering the children around to guide them through centuries of spiritual and moral teachings.
Kids should NOT go to school that day. A good day to start homeschooling, maybe .... Blue Flu..
My son's former Principal used to have all the kids write out a goal sheet after the first grading period. She made a personal comment on each one (and in 9 years I never saw her at a loss for a child's name).
The difference, of course, is that I personally invited her to be part of my son's education and helped to establish her as an authority figure because I trusted her.
I don't trust Obama.
They left out the last step about compiling the sayings of Chairman Barrack into a little red book.
and I DON’T BLAME YOU. If more parents would get involved in their children’s school, classroom and schoolwork...it would be invaluable to everyone.
