Is the Washington Post trying to 'Macaca' Bob McDonnell?
Washington Examiner ^ | 09-01-2009 | Michael Barone

Posted on 09/01/2009 10:39:58 AM PDT by theruleshavechanged

In the 2006 campaign season the Washington Post ran more than a dozen front-page stories on Senator George Allen’s reference, at an August 11 campaign stop almost 400 miles from Washington, to an opposition campaign staffer as “Macaca.” One of these stories, perhaps, had enough news value to be worthy of the front page; the others were placed there with the obvious intent of defeating Allen and electing his Democratic opponent Jim Webb, who did indeed win by a 50%-49% margin.

Now there’s a campaign on for governor of Virginia, and the news editors of the Post seem to be using their front page once again to defeat the Republican candidate, Bob McDonnell, and elect Democrat Creigh Deeds. To provide a fair perspective, we’ll start a Macaca watch, to list stories which make the front page of the Post not on the basis of news value but solely and obviously to defeat the Republican candidate.

You bet they are. . . and what about Deeds? Did he ever write a thesis? . . . and oh yeah, why can't we see Obama's thesis?

When they continue to persue him, as they are Sarah Palin, then there may need to be an article about it...

Sarah Palin’s daughter’s ex-boyfriend’s mother made a plea bargain in a drug case and SARAH PALIN’s name was in the national headline!

Of course they are. What was their coverage of Ways and Means Chairman Rangles Tax, Reporting and ethical Flaws?

like the daily coverage of Ensign? and Bush AWOL stories?

they're balanced, they mentioned Chappaquiddick once every few decades.

I predicted the Post would go after McDonnell the way they did Allen a few weeks ago. Those people are shameless in their efforts to affect the outcome of elections.

I think they might dig up some old kindergarten art proving his racial bias!!! (18th paragraph they'll mention its racism against the color green)

fair and balanced. no bias. right.

Of course they are. And I saw where the Atlantic Monthly is getting into the act. The Post hasn’t ever even reported that BO’s academic records and writings are sealed, let alone tried to report what is in them. The Washington Post is trying to skew the outcome of the Virginia governor’s race, pure and simple. I, too, wonder how and how much they’re getting paid to do so. The one thing I know for sure is that they are taking their talking points directly from the DNC, and barely bothering to rewrite them. The Post’ agenda is plain and clear, and the Post fears that if Virginia falls, it might be an indication that time is running out for BO.

http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com/2009/09/01/va-gov-poll-mcdonnells-lead-cut-in-half/

According to this new PPP poll it may have a little. But, McDonnell is leading Deeds by 31 points with Independents, that’s actually a 10 point increase for Bob since an early August poll had him up 14 points overall against Deeds. You’ll also notice that this poll is of LV’s but it has a 4 point MOE, a little on the high side for an LV poll. It has also polls 55% - 45% women to men, and 38% dems - 31% Repubs - 31% Independents. I think dems outnumber Repubs in VA by 5 points, so that number might be a little off. I’d say Bob is probably up 8 - 9 points, a solid but smaller lead. But, like I said, the best news for Bob is his monster lead with Independents.

Of course they are, it worked so well against the great George Allen. However they don’t seem to have much against McDonnell that is bad. IMHO this thesis would endear him to conservative voters.

Oh you can be sure they are looking in every nook and cranny of the state for evidence that he is a “racist,” which, of course, means whatever bizarre definition a Post reporter can attribute to the word.

Have they hunted down his relatives yet?

so their plan is to run a photoshopped image on the Sunday front page of him humping a Wildebeest on the Capitol Steps with a Waffen SS tattoo on his left bicep....how fiendishly clever!

This is a “crisis” ... for the LEFT!

Tell McDonnell not to apologize.

Tell McDonnell to RUN INTO IT!

Tell McDonnell to quote Dr. Ezekiel (Mengele) Emanuel tit for tat.

Tell McDonnell to ask for Obama’s thesis. Where is it?

Tell McDonnell to embrace his values. Damn straight!

Tell McDonell we’ll back him 100%.

Every News outlet is trying to Macaca. All of them are co-ordinated through the White House.

The only way one can be “macaca’d” is to be a spineless, groveling wimp like Allen was. The average 12 yo kid would have known how better to respond to the ‘controversy’.

McDonnells views are coincident with large majorities of Virginia voters. How could that hurt him?

Absolutely!

He needs to stand up to this crap.

Not duck and “apologize”.

Folks have had enough of the Postie tactics.
