Exactly. They know people are angry over the high cost of health insurance, which is of course the result of the high costs of health care, and they are using it as a wedge to open the door wide for bringing far left Euro-style socialism into every sector of the US economy. The facts are that excellent state-of-the-art health care is expensive in the US and anywhere else, but government run socialized health care schemes in Europe and Canada are even more costly in terms of the unnecessary suffering and death rates of the people who are forced to use them.
I'm retired and old enough to be eligible for Medicare, and I use it along with a private health insurance supplement. I don't like Medicare because it's just a somewhat milder form of socialized medicine than ObamaCare, but I was not given a choice as to whether or not I wanted to participate during my gainfully employed life. If I had been allowed to invest the money that was held out of my pay, along with the matching money that my employers paid to the government for their part of the Medicare scheme, in well chosen equity stocks or even long-term CDs the money that would have accrued over the 45 years of my working life would probably pay for a private policy that would cover everything that medicare covers plus the cost of my private supplement policy that covers most of what Medicare doesn't.
Socialism by any other name is still nothing more than a cruel hoax designed to give enormous power to a few elite people to run every detail of the lives of the gullible masses who are deceived into accepting it. This is serious stuff folks. Once a nation is socialized it's much harder for the people to get out of it than it was to get into it, and bloodshed by the enslaved people is usually necessary to accomplish that end. If OH!bama and his accomplices get everything they want in the next 3, or God-forbid 7 years, I'm afraid that it will take an armed insurrection to get them and their oppressive communist-lite programs off the backs of the American people, and IMHO the outcome of an armed insurrection would depend on which faction the military would back.
I should have said the approximately 50 years of my working life since I began working after school and Saturdays in my Dad's shop when I was in Junior High. Fortunately Medicare wasn't yet an unwelcome reality in 1950 America, so I got to keep all of the $6 a week I earned by working 20 hours per week after school and all day Saturdays.
If my arithmetic is correct that works out to 30 cents per hour, and in today's America my Dad would be in deep trouble with the goobermint for violating the minimum wage law.
