I sympathize with your claim to an extent...as I said in another post on this topic..it appears the publisher (who all work for Dems) put this story out to counter Hussein's falling poll numbers.

BUT, Ridge feeds into it, he panders to the MSM consistently, they KNOW he is usually a reliable “Republican” to be invited on a show to smear Pres. Bush, Cheney, or Rummy. He allows himself to be used this way.

A day later, the New York Times pointed out that the book not only didn’t have any supporting evidence for that claim, it also had Ridge insisting that he hadn’t seen any political pressure on threat levels.

The NY Slimes, no less, points out that there was nothing in the book to substantiate the publisher’s claim that Bush & Co. pressured Ridge.
