He has seen both sides and KNOWS FIRST HAND what the left is up to.

That's exactly what socialism is, the "have nots" envying the "haves" and using politics to take what they can't earn themselves. Politicians love this kind of sentiment among voters, they are easily manipulated so that any joker who promises to "spread the wealth" can rise to power on the backs of the jealous ones.

Being critical of communists is hardly the be-all and end-all of anything. The national socialist Hitler was critical of communists.
And frankly, if I saw someone identical to the David Horowitz of the 1960s operating in American politics today I'd rightly call him a communist.

You wouldn’t call a Baptist a Catholic when debating him would you? Then it doesn’t make much sense to call a New Leftist a Communist.

We should be in tune to the different denominations within the Church of the Left and adjust our rhetoric and our strategies accordingly if we’re to be effective in defending the American Idea.
Treating all leftists like communists is like lecturing a Baptist about why it’s not good to have Popes. It just comes off as ignorant and is ultimately ineffective.
Just because one is a leftist doesn’t mean they’re a communist.
Practicing Baptists and practicing Catholics all profess Christ and His teachings.

There are meaningful differences, just as there are meaningful differences between Catholics and Baptists.
Communists/fascists/socialist don’t all proclaim one ideology. They might be united in their rejection of the American Idea but I’m talking about strategy here my friend.
If you look at everything as a nail you’re going to find that you’ll have a hard time hammering in screws.
Adjust tactics and rhetoric depending on which denomination of the Left you’re dealing with. Don’t just call them all communists. If you want a blanket term then call them leftists or anti-Americans. But communism isn’t the right term.
I’m glad, EV, that he’s not a “new leftist” anymore. (I call him “one who knows”.)
From what I’ve read, it sounds like he turned against the communist ideology in the 60s because it wasn’t “communist enough” and had turned more totalitarian.
Isn’t that the reason why true communism won’t work?
I can read. I know who Horowitz associated himself with in the sixties, and they were a bunch of Communists. Playing with words won’t change that.
